The bottom one is also just a mount for the disco light. The disco lights are fragile and freakin' expensive if you break one (about $180k in 1999 - thank AD1(AW) Winkle for buying us an extra one) so they don't get installed unless you actually anticipate getting shot at.

Hey! Nice pics there! Thanks a lot!

The uppersides one looks like an hexagon(?) with a window at the back. I mean the type in the second pic from Empeter. Is it a disco light mount too?

Thanks to Spongebob too, I always asked myself about all those aircraft with no disco light mounted on empty disco light mounts

Cheers

It's probably pretty similar to what Sal posted. Remember, these pictures were taken over a number of years. Equipment changes.

Not widows, just air vents...the buggers get hot. The mounts are just composite (to absorb vibration, I think), the plate covering the hole in the one pic is just sheet aluminum, and they're cover a bracket to hold the ALQ-144 and a big cable to power it. That's it. Early -60B's (Block 0's) didn't have them...ones with the "Gulf Mod" got them early then with the Block 1- upgrade (everything in a block 1 except the drop tanks and missile due to the pylons) they all got them.
