auhlik
It seems I am going to do a sort of compare build. The idea comes when I've put cockpits together and find out the one from AZmodel to be WAY shorter than the one from Profiline. Please excuse the image quality. My camera just decided to totally distort colors - everything pink is Profiline, purple is AZmodel. AZmodel cockpit assembled Profiline cockpit assembled Both cockpits compared AZmodel in front, Profiline aft AZmodel on the left, Profiline on the right Next I will put both cockpits into fuselage. That's all for know. S.
arkhunter2002
Awesome. Can you compare the interior length to the Italeri kit, or no? Any comments on the fit of the interior sub assembly yet? Do you have an initial preference? I have two Profiline kits on the way. Is the AZ something I should get or should I pass? Looking forward to more progress. Take care, Austin

Take care, Austin Austin, Unfortunately I do not have any Italeri kit so I can not compare physical parts. I just find this thread http://beguesmaker.blogspot.com/2008/07/co...-6a-cayuse.html From the photos it seems AZmodel could have some roots in Italeri - but I can not proof, sorry. My personal preference - well, let me say Profiline - up to now. Clear fuselage, decals, attention to details, modification potential - just to say a few reasons. But I will see later on during the build... Regards Alexandr
El pibe vitina
Interesting post. I will follow it closely. I wonder which kit is better and If both can beat the Italeri one. I cant understand why AZ models offer two kits in one box... I have one Italeri OH-6, one Hughes 500D, and I need just ONE 500E! Cya!
arkhunter2002
Good to hear Alexandr. I'm pretty excited for my profiline kits now...lol I have two Italeri OH-6 and two AH-6's. For me, there are always other interesting decal options so including two kits in a box is welcomed. Especially since one tends to mess up something, so one always has a second chance. :-D @auhlik are the endplates on the tail of the AZ model Pe-parts? Thanks Cheers Thorsten
auhlik
@Thorsten Yes, those are PE-parts. Regards Alexandr
auhlik
Well, well. I am here again with some cockpit assembly matted to fuselage. Profline has clear fuselage and beige interior. AZmodel is gray... Next part tomorrow Regards Alexandr

GeejeeZ
Nice post Alexandr! Like your build! I have bought two Profiline 500E's of which I have almost finished one and have an AZ ready for start. I have built a few Italeri 500's in the past. Just my 2 cts worth after a fairly quick build: the Italeri 500 beats the Profiline kit hands down. Most parts on the Profiline 500 are quite oversize and too thick (landing gear, rotor blades, tailrotors, tail and tailfins) and need a lot of sanding down before assembly. The small size of the sprue and the way the parts are connected to the sprue make removing parts from the sprue a hazardous job. There are no positioning pins and overall fit is extrremely poor; stock up on your putty! The transparent parts imho are too thick and I have not been able to achieve an acceptable fit on the doors; mine will be a doorless 500 :) . Pro's: the kit is reasonably priced and ofcourse the subject is great. The quality of the transparent plastic is good (not too brittle). Panel lining on the transparent parts is nice. Decals and options are off the beaten path and countless. And ofcourse any hero deciding to release new helicopter models different from Apaches, Cobras and Black Hawks deserves my praise! On another thread I read that Profiline might eventually release the 500 in 1:48 and imho that would be a good idea: I get the impression that the quality of the Profiline moulds is just not perfect enough for detail on such a tiny helicopter in 1:72 and ofcourse a giant like Italeri would beat them on the details. I will see if I can combine the AZ pointy nose, tailfins with the Italeri fuselage, maybe that would just make the perfect 1:72 500E... Tank
Any updates?
auhlik
I am sorry for a short silence. I have to focus on too many other things... Later today I will post some updates. @GeejeeZ: Thanks for the opinion. I've never had an Italeri 500 in hand so I have no chance to check your findings. What I can do is to compare both Profiline and AZ with the official measurement and see if there are any major differences. Will post the results as soon as possible. Please stay tuned for comming days. Both kits will be finished and compared side by side. Regards Alexandr
