haneto
Hi,long time no see you. It's quite hot here in China, well, summer times. So the 1/32 Flanker project is temporarily pended. I decide to make some small and easy "projects" which can be finished quickly and nicely—as it is summer now.(Of course in order to release my big stock,too...) MiG-21 "Lancer",once more, the Romanian Mig.Russian airframe with Western electronic equipments. I love the camo very much, because it looks so cool especially in summer. And as Zvezda released a partly new-tooled Fishbed,I decide to make this kit at first. I substitute the top of the intake pod with the stainless needle. Covered with super glue and putty. Then sanding. Painting. Background is a photo of the real plane. Clear instrument.Fill the little windows with masking zoe, then paint. Take the masking zoe away. And apply the splitted instrument decals on the back. Because the instrument on decal do not fit the clear instrument at all.
haneto
Finished cockpit. With a resin seat. The exhaust. Pitot made by brass rods. To be continued...

dobilan
hi, nice project maybe you will want to take a look on the http://cartula.net/modules/ipboard/index.php?showtopic=1141 is in romanian, but the members speak also english if needed...lot of pictures with lancer details, it seems that you want to build the air defence variant of the lancer, there are some variations between the three versions (A,B,C) of the Lancer, notably the dashboard
David Walker
That's some amazing work on the cockpit and I really like the job you did with the intake cone.
FJ55Mike
That looks really awesome haneto! If you don't mind, what did you make the fins on the pitot tube out of? They look very convincing! --Mike

I'll make the 3-colour camo, because I think the grey camo is very few on a fishbed. Thank again for the great references! That looks really awesome haneto! If you don't mind, what did you make the fins on the pitot tube out of? They look very convincing!--Mike They are just 0.13mm plastic paper from Evergreen. I tried some metal materials but found it cannot satisfy me because of the pressure while cuting.
haneto
Hiya! Some progress got this weekend.I really have no more time recently modelling, but I'll fully work on weekends. Some small parts are replaced by brass ones. The censor(?) on Lancer, built by plastic round rod with some sanding work. Pic of the real bird. I made the rivets as many as I can while taking the 4+ book as the main reference. The antenna(?) on the back. And some "parts" on the fin.(Sorry,I really don't know how to call them.) Pic of the real bird. All intakes are drilled.
haneto
I remade the fins of gun-pod by 0.14mm plastic paper,in order to make through-looking fins. Ready for painting.
Sebastijan
This bird is gonna look very neat! Keep up the good work and don't hesitate to show us the results - your attention to little details is very inspiring!

David Walker
Great job with adding all the extra detail. That should really make your Lancer stand out.
haneto
Hi,guys! Here comes the new progress. I spent a whole afternoon and night on painting jod and it's almostly finished. I used some paper to create the mind edge of the camo. After I painted it.I treid putting on the canopy but found the "back" is too forward. So I had to do some sanding work while adjusting the position. And repaint of the cockpit colour was necessary. I lightened the colour of the plane to make it look more real-like. The picture are shot under a small light and the planes looks more bright than it does in these pics. Next step is decal applying and hope everything goes smoothly... Don
Beautiful work! You have a nice eye for detail and your scratch building is top notch  . I am not a huge fan of the Mig-21 but your build has me thinking about building one...a credit to your craftsmanship. I am really enjoying this. Well done!
