Scalephantomphixer
Building of the diorama around my Swordfish. The aircraft building post is here. I bought a standard frame, lowered the backside and added a new ply-wood floor. Chopping wood Should look about that way. The floor of the jetty is laid out. There will be plenty of room for storage. Scalephantomphixer
I poured two layers of resin, slightly colored with blue inks. There will be more layers, fully transparent. Edited March 1, 2008 by Scalephantomphixer

mkimages
Looking stunning as always, Pierre. I'm curious about the rocks under the water; did you finish them in any way or simply rely on the coloring of the resin? ;)

upupandaway
Wow! that looks absolutely awesome! Is the ground a picture or have you really put rocks and plants in there? I find it a little hard to tell from the photos. ;) ;)

Scalephantomphixer
Thank you all for the kind words ;) I made the water with Crystal Resin from Gedeo, a product made in France by Pebeo. As for the stones and gravel, it is train material: small gravel, a couple of stones and bush weed. I everything to the floor with brown tinted white glue. I added 3 drops of blue ink into the first layer of "water", just to give it a slight blue hint, and ended with a top layer of transparent resin. I like the way the water looks... Scalephantomphixer
The resin I used for the water stayed sticky after a week! I fixed this by pouring a layer of Future on it, which dried very fast. As an unwanted side-effect, I got small riddles along the floats, exactely where would be in reality :) :D :D
thom
 didn't think this could get any better. I was wrong.........................

Scalephantomphixer
Little time for modelling, but I still could build part of this 1/48 bike. Nothing for shaky hands! Flightpath photo-etch, 26 parts, all soldered  Edited March 24, 2008 by Scalephantomphixer
Scalephantomphixer
Hi folks, here is un update of the Stringbag diorama, one month after I moved to a new house. The Swordfish did not like the move! It cashed, the float struts broke, and curiously there was a left-over of uncured resin that started smudging the surface of the water. There was no easy way out...
