F-4F intake colour

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm in the process of starting my Luftwaffe F-4F and will be painting it in the Norm 90J paint scheme and using AirDoc decals and the superb Dmold seamless intakes. My question is in regards to the intake colour. I'm pretty sure it's white in the Luftwaffe F-4F intakes but I'm trying to find references on where the white begins. I've seen pics of Holloman F-4F's in the USAF gray scheme and the white starts further inside the intake, about 5 feet or so. Does this apply to the Norm 90J scheme as well and does anyone have detail intake pics of this scheme?

TIA,

Ciao,

John

My understanding is that the demarcation line is the same no matter the scheme.

The break line (or very close to it) is where the leading edge of the wing intersects the intake.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the reply.

I just came across some F-4F reference pics in the Norm 90J scheme and it is as you say.

Although you are correct for the demarcation line in land based F-4's, the USN and USMC Phantoms had the white extend to the front lip of the intake. This is why I wanted clarification on the Luftwaffe F-4F's.
