Berkut
Thank you very much for re uploading the photos Chris. ;) You know what i found funny? This is what chris said a few pages back: No, I'm not planning to do a canopy for the upcoming Su-27UB (unless they really botch it mad.gif )... I small request Chris: I don't know if you have time for this, but could you please please show us how you cast things in resin. You are a master at casting, you take good pictures and you write in a way that is simple to understand, even when it is about complex things. :) And BTW, i have never seen so many " " emotions in a thread before. :D
Alpagueur
Fantastic job as always Chris. Why not a Su-33 conversion set for the big flanker now?? regards, Luca
Dave Williams
It's easy to ask someone else to do things like make a 1/32 Su-33 conversion, but it's a pretty big job. It's not just sticking on some canards and putting a hinge on top of the wing. If the 1/48 SOL conversion is any guide to what's needed, it looks like a pretty daunting task with a new forward fuselage, new shoulders with canards, new complete wings and tail planes, and exhausts. The tail stinger is a pretty minor part. Be hard for someone to make any money on a set like that unless they price it up in the CE Brit Phantom range (original price), I'd think. I'm sure many guys would be ready to spend a lot of money to get a Su-33 conversion set in their hands ;) regards, Luca Edited December 14, 2008 by Alpagueur

I don´t think that it will be more expensive than the YF-23 in 1/32... Chris, if you do it Iwill buy 2... BTW: never forget the YF-23, I´m waiting for cheers my friend Rafael Edited December 14, 2008 by Rafael Winter
Youngtiger1
Wow, this thread sure is growing......75 pages and counting. Yes, nice touch on the new tail Chris. I too would love to get a Su-33 conversion in 1/32. I'll get one for sure!
Moche
this is my flanker contribution on this forum. Its the SMK. http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....0585&hl=smk
Zactoman
Fantastic job as always Chris. Why not a Su-33 conversion set for the big flanker now?? regards, Luca Thanks Luca But as Dave mentioned it would be a pretty monumental undertaking and would cost a pretty penny... Whether it would be marketable or not, I've currently got way too much on my plate (The current Su-27 project, The future Su-27UB canopy, YF-23, MiG stuff, Other stuff :) , etc.) to do the conversion. Perhaps some day... this is my flanker contribution on this forum. Its the SMK.http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....0585&hl=smk Wrong scale, but nice model! Thanks for contributing to the madness. Now how about building one in 1/32 scale? Zactoman
Stinger is slowly progressing again. I finished shaping the 'wings' and started scribing lines. The chaff dispenser is just a quick test.
Eli Raphael
Does the Angolan have the early tail? Thanks.
Berkut
No, it is the usual tail. Look at the boxes at the sides.
Zactoman
Does the Angolan have the early tail? Thanks. My understanding is that none of the two seat versions have the early tail stinger...
Eli Raphael
Only with photographic evidence can one only know which tail is used on single seaters?
Zactoman
Only with photographic evidence can one only know which tail is used on single seaters? This is a question for Flankerman...Unfortunately there are few pictures of Angolan Flankers out there. I'd imagine if you knew what airframe #s had the early tails and knew which airframes Angola purchased you'd have an answer but this info hasn't been made public to my knowledge. Stinger is almost finished. Just a few small details left to go including the chaff dispensers. For those who might have missed it, missiles are coming soon as well as Sorbstya Pods! Zactoman
Shame on me for having so many projects going on at the same time... I pointed out on a previous thread about the Su-27UB that there was a problem with the canopy: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....t&p=1547237 The forward portion being too narrow... Here we go again: This won't be ready right away as I do have other projects going on that are more pressing, but it is in the works... I don't know when the sale ends, but Great Models currently has the Trumpeter kit for $104.95: http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/...tem_num=TSM2270
loftycomfort
Chris, Will this UB canopy set include canopy frame detail just like the single seat set does? Cheers, Terry

Very desirable improvement! The two-seater is though more tempting (for me, at least) and the canopy will be a very nice addition to the kit. As for the Great Models offering - finally, the price offered is acceptable. This is more-or-less resonable money the kit really worth paying for. Good luck with your new project! Alexander. Zactoman
Will this UB canopy set include canopy frame detail just like the single seat set does?Eventually...I have several other projects going on which are higher priority and the internal framing detail will be pretty time consuming to master. I'm considering releasing just the vacform canopy initially for those who don't want to wait. We'll see...
The Dude
<SNIP>I'm considering releasing just the vacform canopy initially for those who don't want to wait. We'll see... ;) I'm up for that as my UB is on hold (albeit almost done) for a new canopy and will be displayed closed anyway.
Ghostkiller
 as usual Look at the nice canopy for the UB !!! my ub might get back on the workbench soon
Zactoman
After removing an approximate wall thickness from the pattern I did a test pull to check it out: The stock canopy for comparison: I still need to make some slight shape adjustments and add back a little material where I took too much off  Here's another shot showing the difference: ;)
Wasserfall
Amazing diference!!, as always Chris ,a perfect job already As for my build, it isn't dead but slumbering on. Looking forward for the missile set!! Cheers!! Wasserfall
Berkut
Indeed, it looks so much better. And you dont have to deal with that center mold line!
