0viking0
This is one of the worst kits I've ever started. My intetion was to build UH-1D and AB212, but I ended up with kitbashing both just to make one decent model. So, this was the starting point. Italeri UH-1D kit with CMK interior and engine set, and Italeri AB212/UH-1N. Similar kits with some sprues/parts that are the same in both boxes. One is awful, and the other (212) is even worse. UH-1D at least looks like good old Huey. 212 has some serious shape issues, bad fit and details. There are many sink and pin marks all over the parts on both kits so I've decided to build just one. CMK resin sets are good (but not perfect). My intention is to build at least decent Vietnam era UH-1 in medevac form. Interior "in progress" and coated with primer. Fit of the resin parts is not so good, but I've seen worse. TBH, fit of some original parts is even worse.
galileo1
WOW, that's just beautiful work. Rob
0viking0
OK, this is generel idea. One side will be closed, plain and simple, and the other side will be with doors and engine section open. I don't have photos of painted interior - batteries on my camera were gone at that time. There are still a lot of details to put in. At this stage there were a lot of puttying and sanding, and there will be more... The kit is very complicated by default, but I've made it even more complicated with this surgery. Engine is just dryfitted. Sry for bad light on the photos. Windshield vipers gone - there are some schratches left, and I still need to polish this.
0viking0
And this is where I am now. Some photos are made on the daylight, and some were done on the artificial light. I can't really show you the real color. There are no decals for Vietnam era medevac Hueys, so I'll use some from the kit, and I'll try to make the rest. I'm not really statisfied, I just want to finish this one. Edited January 22, 2013 by 0viking0
11bee
Looks outstanding, I'd love to see some pics of the interior. Also, what did you use for the screen on the engine cowlings? Great job! Not sure but I thought maybe Fireball Modelworks had some 1/48 Vietnam UH-1 decals available. May not be medevac but could be a good starting point.
0viking0
Ok, here is next update. There is still a lot of work to do. Some bad thingies comes with the kit, some bad thingies comes with resin set, and some of the crap I made by myselft. But i'm statisfied. Could be worse. I just want to finish this one ASAP. shagohad
Sometimes we can be our own worst critics but I gotta tell ya, this is a really nice build! I'm no expert on Huey helios but it is really turning out nicely!
