Linden Hill
We'll start shipping our preorders as soon as they arrive. The Tu-114, A-60 and Il-20RTs are in the same shipment. Must check that my health insurance still covers hernia surgery. If we have time, we'll try and do another video update on the new stuff for the LHI Web site when it arrives. More news here: http://www.lindenhillimports.com/news.htm Check out the fancy MiG-29 pic also.
Loach Driver
Hannants in the U.K. are listing this beast at £198 sterling. Ouch! This is one kit I have been waiting for to add to my collection and I've been saving for. To be honest, it is amazing that this helicopter is being released in this scale at all but A Model have to be congratulated for doing so. It is certainly the year for big Russian helicopters with two Mil Mi-26 kits (South Front and Zvezda) out and I think I read somewhere that a Mil Mi-10 Harke kit might be on the way as well at some point. Maybe A Model will be the people to release a new CH-54 Skycrane once they have kitted all these big Russian machines! LD.
Matt_S
Is it just me or does that Pe-8 look a lot like a B-17? Matt

Loach Driver
The Zvezda Mi-26 is out? Did I miss the announcement? No. I worded my first post a little incorrectly. The Zvezda kit is not out yet but Hannants have a list price so its release shouldn't be too far off now. Should definitely be out before the end of the year. Sorry about the incorrect info. LD. Nev
I sooooo want a V-12 (built in-service with camo and a scud TEL rolling out the back), but not at the cost of an entire years modelling budget!
TaiidanTomcat
That is incredible I never thought i would see something like The Homer kitted. Really expensive but still cool.
hemspilot
I hope they reversed one of the rotor heads. The one in the sprue pictures said (correctly) Mi-6/Mi-10, however the other turns the opposite way. Anyway, I have one on preorder from Linden Hill, so here goes my budget for a while. Steven H. McLain
I was wondering if any of the Mi-26 kits has any detailing in the cargo hold?
Flankerman
I was wondering if any of the Mi-26 kits has any detailing in the cargo hold? The South Front Mi-26 has a fully detailed cockpit - but nothing in the cargo hold. The Zvezda Mi-26 is not out yet - but it promises to have a fully detailed cargo bay. I'm off to Moscow - and Gelendzhik - in a couple of weeks time. I am hoping to pick up a Tu-126 - plus a Mil V-12 (if it is out by then ) - plus any other goodies that are around. If I see a Zvezda Mi-26, I shall certainly get one....... Trouble is, making room in the suitcase for it all - I may have to leave some clothing behind Ken

richuk
There seems to be a big difference in price for the South Front -26 and the Zvezda, £34.99 as opposed to £17.99 respectively. I wonder if the difference in detail/standard will be reflected in this price? If there is a choice of detailing the cockpit (which you can't really see) or the cargo hold (which you will be more visabale) I'd go for the latter anyday. £17.99 for a heli this size seems like a fair price. Zvezda is a huge, Moscow-based, multi-national toy company with automated moulding machines that churn out kits by the thousands. South Front is a small, probably one-man, cottage company based in Rostov-on-Don with highly labour-intensive production. I think the South Front moulds are probably Amodel in origin - they are very similar, with lots of flash from low-pressure, limited run moulds. But, with a bit of work, it makes up into an accurate model of the Mi-26 - and South Front are to be applauded for taking the huge risk involved to produce the kit. Zvezda also, rather cheekily, used the South Front Mi-26 on their stand at a couple of model shows to advertise their own forthcoming release BTW, the same price differential occurs between the Zvezda and Amodel Petlyakov Pe-8s. The Zvezda kit is £17.99, the Amodel kit is £60+ The Zvezda kit is produced down to a price - and this is reflected in the accuracy and detail of the parts - they are very simplified. The Amodel Pe-8 has much better detail. But, at the end of the day, it is the lower cost that Zvezda can achieve that will win out....... Ken

Loach Driver
The Amodel Homer is £198 Sterling at Hannants and $275 for the same kit at LindenHill. That's a saving of €61 (for me) if you go with LindenHill. If I can get a favourable postage rate from America I think I know where my money is going. I hope they still have one left! Hannants have a great variety of kits but why there is such a price difference beats me. LD.

Nev
Thanks for posting the pics Ken - but what is this rest that you speak of? You need to be building this model for our delectation! £92 is a lot of pennies, so I may have to build this model vicariously and content myself with a Zvezda Mi-26....
