Kasatka
I think this is the best build I've ever seen http://modelism.airforce.ru/gallery/gumenjuk/mig29/index.htm The whole build process is here http://forums.airforce.ru/showthread.php?t=

janman
It's now official. I've actually fallen in love with the fatback Fulcrums!
JackMan
Ignorant question: Is that an SMT version of the 9-13? TIA.
janman
Ignorant question: Is that an SMT version of the 9-13? TIA. I doubt it. At least there's no mention of it in the Russian language discussion at Airforce.ru. I suppose the cockpit should have MFDs if it was an SMT. There might have been, but I didn't remember seeing any in this awesome model.
Martinsson
Is this Neomega set still in production? I was chasing the Neomega MiG-21F-13 set but that has gone too. Too bad. Martin

There might have been, but I didn't remember seeing any in this awesome model. Thanks, Janman. For some reason, that CFT 'hump' on the back seems ( to me) extra larger than the standard 9-13: SMT: http://www.airpower.at/news00/mig/smtII_01.jpg Model: http://modelism.airforce.ru/gallery/gumenj...9/mig_29_08.jpg SMT: http://www.airwar.ru/image/i/fighter/mig29smt-i.jpg Model: http://modelism.airforce.ru/gallery/gumenj...9/mig_29_18.jpg SMT: http://www.airwar.ru/image/idop/fighter/mi.../mig29smt-1.gif Model: http://modelism.airforce.ru/gallery/gumenj...9/mig_29_08.jpg Just got my hands on the 1/72 Kondor SMT. Hence my motivation for seeking out SMT builds B) ps. Just to confirm (since I'm a little mixed up on Mig-29 variants) : The only difference between the standard 9-13 & the SMT is the additional CFT hump on the back right? janman
I actually found a picture of the the red "29" in one of my books and there it says that it's an "ordinary" hunchback, 9-13. As far as I remember, the 9-13 and the SMT (9-17 if I remember correctly) differ also in their tail. SMT has a beaver tail, in which the fatter spine continues all the way to the tail. That model certainly seems to have bigger spine than 9-13 should have, you're right about that. Dunno, eyes just lying? I've too played with the idea of getting the ICM 9-13. These two kits (Condor and ICM) are the same, if I can recall. Or were they?
janman
Damn, now I mixed up with the SMT and 9-13 myself! Yes, you're talking about Condor SMT and I about ICM 9-13... Stupid me.

Thanks, Jan B) Not sure about the ICM kit as I've never seen one. I don't have the Kondor 9-13 either, only the SMT. I do know that Eastern Express kits are sometimes the same as the Kondor ones (like their Mig-21-93) You could ask ARCer 'Haneto' (Yufei Mao) who build that fabulous Mig-29 Sniper. I believe he kitbashed an ICM kit with the Airfix one. No doubt he must have done some research on the various Mig-29 kits. HTH.

joachim
i can tell about the 9-13 kits; that the Condor kit is the ICM kit as is the Eastern Express kit. They are all the same kits. But i like the ICM one the most because of the decal sheet ;-)

But i like the ICM one the most because of the decal sheet ;-) Things have evolved a bit. ICM (or Condor) have retooled their 9.13 to improve the detailing. Cockpit, wheel wells and so forth have been copied from the Italeri kit I believe. Look at this review: http://scalemodels.ru/articles/212.html
model_madness
That cockpit is abso-bl**dy-lutely awesome Perfection!! <_<
