Guest LITTLE BIRD 117
Hey Guys, The title says it all, at my local hobby lobby they have a 1/48 revell b-29 for sale. I want get it but only if there are decals avalible in 1/48th for ENOLA GAY or the other b-29 that dropped the A-BOMB on Japan. Thanks guys!
grandadjohn
The original issue from Monogram had them. Think Super Scale may have done them also, but they have been OOP for many years
ikar
The other aircraft was called Bock's Car. I'll start checking around here for decals.
David Walker
You might want to check with KursadA from here on ARC. While I think he's currently out of the decal business, he was planning on issuing an Enola Gay sheet. Check this thread from 2005: http://s102164210.onlinehome.us/forums/ind...nola+Gay+decals

jrallman
FYI, Superscale has sheets out there for all of the 509th B-29s IIRC. Keep in mind though that there are basically two ways to model each plane. One would be the correct mission time markings and one would be post-mission markings. Something like this: Enola Gay - mission - Number 82 on nose and fuse, "Enloa Gay" on nose, circle R on tail, no mission pumpkins on nose Enola Gay - post-mission - Number 82 on nose and fuse, "Enola Gay" on nose, circle forward arrow on tail, red vertical stabilizer tip, mission pumpkins on nose. Bockscar - mission - Number 77 on fuse, red band around center of fuse, triangle N on tail, no mission pumpkins on nose Bockscar - post-mission - Number 77 on nose and fuse, salt lake to nagasaki nose art with bockscar name, circle forward arrow on vertical tail, mission pumpkins on nose I think that about covers it. HTH.

Blue Ace
superscale make a set just of the "enola gay" only.. 48-
jrallman
Superscale 48-0935 has decals for "Bockscar" and "The Great Artiste" though I am not sure if it has the tail markings for the atomic mission as well as post mission or not. I think they have put out a few other sheets from time to time with 509th planes on them.
David Walker
Just for historical purposes you may find this pdf very interesting. It showed up on Hyperscale this morning: http://afhra.maxwell.af.mil/photo_gallerie...509th/509th.pdf I found the information about the training missions particularly interesting. I didn't realize they ran practice bomb runs over Cuba. Edited December 12, 2006 by David Walker
