pablo189
Hi everyone, Got home from work today to find the new Hobby Boss A-10 waiting ;) , fresh off the plane from Hong Kong. Thought I'd share some pics of whats in the box.... Starting indoors with the instrument panel, nicely done, the dials have no detail although you do get a decal. Will be reaching for the Mike Grant gauges here. Tub Bang seat, particularly nice, only things missing are lap belts Nose gear Main gear, oleo looks a bit skinny Interior of nose well Nice chaff dispensers
Spaced Marine
Very nice. I guess I'm going to have to get one now!
pablo189
Fine surface detail, although no raised rivets on the rear half of the fuselage ;) Nose is a better shape than Italeri's Vertical stabs, monogram on the left for comparison, rivets are recessed here as well Airbrakes, designed to be closed, no horn balances included Which makes me wonder why they included the backing plates for the airbrake wells B) Fan blades, looks like they're all there but I haven't taken a head count yet :P Decent full exhausts Cowling with seperate panels
pablo189
Lots of explosives too Rockeyes For the record you get 12x Mk82 12x Mk20 2x MER 1x Ferry tank 2x Aim-9L plus DRA 6x Mavericks 2x GBU-8!! 2x ALQ-119 2x ALQ-131 (allegedly) Is this right? Not like the one in the hase RF-4 although I'm not really a weapons type guy, Rubber tyres Windscreen, never bought the Trumpeter kit so I'm not sure what was wrong with that but this looks close Pylons
Scooby
I got one on the way as well. Looks good, and apparently they fixed the problem on the canopy found on the Trumpeter offering.
Will2K65
Looks nice, though don't see why they give you a GBU-8! Some rocket pods would've been nice! That ALQ-131 is the 'shallow' version, as opposed to the more commonly seen (at least on USAFE aircraft) 'deep' pod. Looks fairly accurate to me
pablo189
Decals, both from the ODS time period which I think will mean the removal of the laste mods...? And finally, the wings and fuselage taped together Other highlights include seperate flaps, a full gun and barrel and a set of chocks. All in all it looks a pretty good deal, bring on the Hornets!!!! Looks fairly accurate to me The GBU-8s made me look twice!! I don't think I've ever seen them outside of the hasegawa weapons set. I've never seen that version of the ALQ-131 before either, nice to have another option.
Matt Roberts
Bring on the Hornets and Rafales. Wonder if I'll just do the Monogram for a pre-LASTE bird with the decals from this kit and use this as a current version. Remind me, did the original Trump 32nd do a LASTE equipped version or not? I don't recall the GPS dome in back of the canopy that is shown on this one. Now a question arises...since this one has the LASTE antennas on the kit did they have a non-LASTE version of the tails for the NAW A-10B kit? That was built long and more than likely sent out to the boneyard long before the LASTE was probably even thought of. Chappie
Looks good! Can we get them in the States? I want to order one through my LHS. My LHS is 90% R/C and their plastic is always 15% off. I'm going to hold off on the single-seaters (I've got 8 Monogram kits), but I will defitnely jump on the A-10B! Chappie

If you've followed the Hobbyboss saga over the past few months, for some reason Stevens Int'l is not importing the line here into the States. Great Models does have some of the 72nds and 48th armor available but exactly where and how they got thier stock is unknown. As it stands now it appears that going thru Lucky Models is the best bet. Including postage they are about $48 from them and from HLJ they are going for $65 without P&H. BUt I cannot see if HB really follows thru with thier release schedule that someone else would not figure out some way to get thier stuff here into the States Matt Edited February 9, 2007 by Matt Roberts
ChernayaAkula
That IS looking nice! Just look at the HUD "frames"! Good to know they fixed the canopy.
GA.modelmaker
i may have to get one of those. i have some 2 bobs decals for it. i sure do hope that that the hornets look just as good as this does.
Cyrus Tan
I don't think so. If you've followed the Hobbyboss saga over the past few months, for some reason Stevens Int'l is not importing the line here into the States. Just specualtion...Steven's is probably not the exclusive distributor here in the States. I spoke to my LHS about this a few months ago and they said that they will be carrying the HB line. Their major supplier is Sentai, so I'm guessing that Sentai might be the distributor here in the States? At any rate, I couldn't wait so I placed an order at LM since they seem to have the best price and it should be here very soon!
Voodoo man 101
wow, I was going to purchase the Monogram kit, this seems to be the bang for your buck now. Right on. CHeers

The same is true with the HB kit. But the HB kit has more of the modifications than the Trumpeter kit had. So be careful, you don't have all the LASTE mods.

Hannants has HB armor, I wonder if they will get the Hogs? Thanks for the info. Chappie
David Walker
It does look very good so far. I'm really surprised how good the seat looks. That's one of the best I've seen in plastic. And I did count: there are twenty-eight fan blades, which I believe from earlier discussions is the correct number.
Gene K
Is there a separate Air Refueling Door???? Insides? Gene K
AnthonyWan
Really considering getting the N/AW...hoping that one is the same quality of this one. :)

Looks fairly accurate to me :) FYI - Here is the current ALQ-131 carried on DM Hogs - I shot this last week. Granted this is a mega-blow-up from an EOR landing shot - but you get the idea of the shape. If there's another style pod out there, I haven't seen it locally. And yes . . . rocket pods would have been nice - Check out the rest of the load on this 354th FS Hawg. Here's the photo: Edited February 9, 2007 by RipVW

I spoke to my LHS about this a few months ago and they said that they will be carrying the HB line. Their major supplier is Sentai, so I'm guessing that Sentai might be the distributor here in the States? Interesting. In that case, Hobby Boss wouldn't be a Trumpeter sub-division/sister company (as most people have been suggesting), since, well, why use a different distribution network? It'd be like selling Special Hobby through one distributor, Azur through another. Which would jibe with other comments that Trumpeter were 'unhappy' with Hobby Boss for pantographing down their T-34s, with an ensuing fall-out. Wouldn't be an issue if they're the same company. So I guess it's a case of 'all those Chinese model companies look the same to me', when really, they're not.
jefropas
If you go to the Hobby Boss website, and you look for international distributors, it has a star right in the middle of the US. If you try and pull up a list, it says they are still working on it. I have no doubt they'll get here, really, the US would be their largest market or second at the least. They want the $$, here it is...I gotta grab a few of these, they look way better than first impression, and that was pretty favorable..Still have 5 Monogram Hogs that will get built. With this out, I will not be buying the Italeri kit, looks like crapola compared to this thing. Jeff
David Walker
It would be nice to just walk into my local hobby shop and pick one up, but if I have to order it internationally I will. It looks like it's worth it.
