Flyingfortress
I have the honor of building a B-24J for the 445th BG's museum dedicated to the mission to Kassel Germany. If anyone likes reading history, this one is right up there with Ploesti and Schweinfurt! Linda Dewey asked that I model the plane after her Dads ship, buttoned up and ready to go. Here's the kit I got from Viperguy and the decals are coming from Joseph Osborn. Those two guys are the best guys to work with and are highly reccomended! Here's the kit: I'll keep you posted on my progress, but with the holidays, not sure how much I'll get done. No time limit on this one so I'm safe. Thanks again to Craig and Joseph Osborn!!! ChernayaAkula
This is one I'll be watching very closely. I live only 20 km from Kassel. Sean, could you post a little more of the historical info, please? I remember I saw something on TV about a "Battle of Northern Hesse", but I'm not sure whether this is the incident. jester292
Hey there Fort, Progress looks sharp. I've got the same kit in progress (on and off for a year now). Bear of a kit but worth every minute of frustration for the result. Good luck, I'll be watching :) Aaron
jester292
Thanks Aaron! You guys keep any of the snow on the West Coast? Ours melted (all 10") over a day and a half! I think its still on the ground (according to my wife and parents)... I've been in Richmond, VA for flight training since August so I really have no idea what the weather is like there... hate the winter but looking forward to the modelling time it provides Can't wait to see your Libby all finished up! Maxtype
Great start,FlyingFortress! I love Liberators. My Dad grew up near the Consolidated plant, and he told me of brand-new B-24s leaving the factory for combat. I'll be watching this closely!
regevmo
hi, About the wing joint, you can insert a thin plastic to the joint and if required then add a little bit of putty (MR. surfacer is recomnded in this situation), when sanding u have to be gentle or else u will loose some of the rivets. U can use something to protect the rivets like masking tape. Hope it helps.

X-RAY
Keep it up, I just got a tube of squadron Green-putty for Christmas so I am happy!!! Jake
marine4 ever
milliput is more pliable than tamiya putty. i don't use it(yet). i use tamiya putty for most projects. then smooth it out with a Q-tip dipped in alchohol. looks great so far! Semper Fi Dan
ChernayaAkula
I think Milliput is not a putty like the standard Tamiya putty but a two-component epoxy like Greenstuff. Edited January 1, 2008 by ChernayaAkula
beek
Most joints can be delt with quite easily by using sqn putty or automotive body putty which is way cheaper and finer, apply to joint wait a few miniutes, a Q tip with the wifes nailpolish remover ( acetone) and start gently wiping the plastic will not be harmed. If you take to much out start again and a light sanding and sealing ( Mr surfacer ) and that should be it this works really well on hard to get areas wingroots and intakes. Hope this helps. marine4 ever
yes mr. surfacer can be sanded. i do all the time. the doors look only a bit off to me although my eyesite is going :D you are doing a fine job making a silk purse from a sows ear! keep it up. it's been inspirational so far! Maxtype
Looks good to me,FlyingFortress! Imagine how thrilled the family will be to have their father's plane......... :D Keep it up -Dave
BjornB17
that fit looks apalling! If you ever decide to build a b-25, go with accurate miniatures! but you're one brave soul and the kit is turing out very nice!!
P-38 guy
That kits a b*tch, I've been working on mine on and off since the Heavys Group Build. The top seam and the bomb bay doors are the hard part. I got my top seam taken care of but still working on getting the bomb bay doors to my liking. Is this going to be displayed inflight or and it's gear? If it's on its gear she will need some nose weight or a stand unter the tail. Keep up the good work.
