Scooby
Well, here is my model room, it isn't as neat at The 3rd Placer's room, but give him time to mess it up. After retiring from the Airforce I wanted my own private space in the basement, I've always had an area to model but never anything as fancy as this. I developed the basement over a span of six months (family room, hobby room, older daughters room, and a bathroom). The last room to be finished was mine of course, but it was worth the wait. I even put a lock on the door! The next purchase is a rocking chair. Sorry for the poor images, it was hard to photograph. The room is actually bigger than it looks, and the walk-in closet is stuffed with unbuilt models! The room is 12 ft by 10 ft, the closet is 6ft by 6 ft deep. The room has a bit of all of me (NHL, CFL, modeling, TV, and of course Scooby). What started as this: Became this: Edited May 1, 2008 by Scooby
Sean Bratton
Great hobby room, Gary! Someday.... You do need to put your Eskimo memorabilia in a place where it's a little more prominent, though. Are you collecting 1:400 airliners now? Cheers, Sean Edited May 1, 2008 by Sean Bratton
modelsntoys
Very nice! Do you do all the work yourself? I need to get going in my basement.....
Sean Bratton
Like a closet perhaps???? You get one freebee as that actually made me laugh. Cheers, Sean

As for the Eskimo stuff, I even have a signed Warren Moon helmet in the room. Edited May 1, 2008 by Scooby
Sean Bratton
I've slowed down though. Smart man - it's a lot cheaper that way. I've yet to learn though. Edited May 1, 2008 by Sean Bratton
Scooby
Like a closet perhaps???? Wow Scooby......that is an awesome model room. Colour me green with envy! Don't trash my Eskimos. You don't have to live in the South to know that FOOTBALL IS KING! Scooby
Very nice! Do you do all the work yourself? I need to get going in my basement..... I didn't touch the mud and taping. The mudder also did the California knockdown on the ceiling. I did the rest. Even the blue is Canadian, it is called Five Dollar Bill.

Sean Bratton
I used to get a ton of stuff from AW but they had a big change of staff last year and I think it's gone downhill, so much so I rarely buy from them anymore. It's at the point now where the current salespeople (except for one) can't even be bothered to look up from the computer to acknowledge you're in the store. The previous guys actually knew what to set aside for me.
AnthonyWan
It was going just fine until that last picture came up :) Great room you got Scooby...
Scooby
Man, I can't wait to retire......well, sort of. Would stay in longer if I could.....anyway, the house we bought has a 400 square foot shed in the back yard that the previous owner custom built to store all his tools, boat stuff, etc.Right now it is a standard outdoor shed with no interior walls.......looking at your room and 3rd placer's makes me want to jump right into mine! Thanks for the pics (and the ideas)! It looks really good. Dave Thanks Dave.

Scooby
Yup, I have to agree. That is one seriously cool hobby room. Congrats, Gary. Hope you spend a lot of fun hours in it! It's fun to have such a room. I have a lot of signed stuff in the room too. I have items signed by Warren Moon, Wayne Gretzky, Fuhr, countless other Eskimos and Oilers. In addition, the Spitfire over Normandy is signed by Johnie Johnson and the Corsair print is signed by four Jolly Roger aces (Blackburn, Hedrick, Kelefer, And Cunningham). One of my 66 Batmobiles is signed by Barris (the creator of the Batmobile). So the room has a bit of history. The silver display case was purchased from a store fixture supplier. It was $275.00, far cheaper than the two curios I bought from a furniture store. And it is far more practical.
Scooby
nice room!!!i see you have the must haves!!! (microwave and fridge)!!! Richard The fridge is full of international wobbly pops (Spitfire beer is in there) and the microwave is for popcorn, or for warming up a hot drink on a cold day! The closet is one thing I really needed, but ran out of room and $$. Your short display case is nice. My story is similar to yours...always had an area to do it, but nothing specifically built to handle model kit production, finishing and display. I need to take your lead and get some art work displayed (as well as some finished kits ) Ryan

I have one on order now. ;) Yeah, I like the short display case, I should have more models in it, but I sold a bunch on ebay just prior to our move home. I also moved four of my best upstairs when my wife told me she had room for my stuff in another cabinet. I also like the ledge. I was thinking of extending it out and making plexiglass encased cabinets on the top half of the wall. I am glad I didn't. Smithery, I need to give my cave a name. I don't know what was funny in my thread. Everything was factual. Regev, Thanks for the kind words. To all who have looked, this has been fun!
