Avus
Thanks to all, guys. Hope to fulfill your expectations. who's say you aren't precise? Actually I was referring to the combination of speed and precision, Dan. You see to combine them very well. Here are some progress shots (dry fitting): I assembled the resin parts, added some styrene detail and cut out the holes in the "office's" floor. The second pic show the pilot: it's basically Nemrod's figure slightly modified in pose and with a modified CMK head to represent the more modern HGU-56 helmet. norbert
Nice work on the figure Avus, and not only on the helmet I saw you enlarged slightly the cockpit floor. You save some filling there Norbert
norbert
i have an other question What materiel did you add on the bulkhead ? not Styrene ? Norbert
rjwood_uk
very nice work! Love the cockpit work. Especially the pilot. Are you going to put the harnes around him? Richard
Avus
Thanks again for looking and commenting. I saw you enlarged slightly the cockpit floor. You save some filling there. [...] What materiel did you add on the bulkhead ? not Styrene ? Yes, I noticed a huge gap during the dry fitting. Due to the fact that I'll have to paint the interior before placing it I considered that I wouldn't be able to fill it once in place and opted for "styrene-putty" B) Will do the same in the front section. Actually yes: the "bumps" are in plasticard so styrene with a lead foil strip. The details like the fire extinguisher and control boxes are part of Cobra Co's update set. Are you going to put the harnes around him? No, I won't. This helicopter will be (one day) part of a small dio. I'm tying to find the picture that inspred my build. It shows a landed hawk with pilot in the pit and crew chief "tyding up" in the background. In the foregroud two PJs escort a rescued A-10 pilot. Edit: This is not the picture I had but it is from the same event. Edited June 10, 2008 by Avus
Avus
Last two weekends I was busy adding styrene to correct the shape of the cockpit-cargo floor: Academy made a thorough job excluding all the details ... they didn't miss one! Anyhow I'm almost done. The part I'm most satisfied with is the one underneath the "office": Hope to make more interesting progress next WE.

Avus
It's been quite a while sinc I update here! Last weeks I have been busy correcting some inaccuracies (poor fit and missing details) that slowed down my progress. Now I have some pic to show what I did in those weeks. This shows the huge gaps between the roof and the side bulkheads: ... some days and styrene later ... BTW where shoud the "drip pan" be placed? Currently i put it underneath the main rotor is this correct? Unlike the instructions say I glued the side bulkheads to the fuselage before assembly ... again there are some gaps that are "treated" better this way: Last two pictures show the details added to the pit: Hope to be done assemblying the ineterior this week end. Avus
Really nice work, I'm looking forward to seeing more. Thanks! Your whish is my command! Today I made the spinal board (too lazy to make a Stokes litter): And added the tie downs using drhornii's scheme and eduards PE: More to come in the next days ... I hope!
marine4 ever
very nice stuff Avus! looking forward to seeing you press on! semper fi Dan
Adam Baker
Very nice! I think that Im going to probably start on my Pave Hawk this weekend. Probably going to be built mainly OOB. About the only thing I think I may do to mine, is add the tie downs on the decking like you've done.
Andrew Doppel
Very nice work Avus! Look forward to seeing your progression. regards Andrew
Avus
Thanks for everyone for taking the time to look and to comment. This WE I slowed down a little. Probably going to be built mainly OOB. About the only thing I think I may do to mine, is add the tie downs on the decking like you've done. Looking forward to see your build. Personally I think the tiedowns are the last thing to worry about, since the interior is as good as not detailed. I could have lived with it only leaving the troop area doors closed. But that's only how I see it.
doupnik
Nice work, I like that spinal board. mason
Avus
Thanks Mason! It wasn't as difficult to get a satisfactory result as I feared. Guess those were the proverbial last famous words, Dan: "looking forward to seeing you press on!" Sadly no pressing! Only a little update. Having finished the major conversions and scratch builds I hope to speed up a little. Auxiliary fuel tank with photo etched parts: Added the spinal board and two backpacks to the auxiliary fuel tank. Painting's not done yet, it's only the first hand: Modified the roof; I found the beam with the seat attachments so I removed the copper bar and added the plastic one:
