Bulldog 09
Hello all, Here is my 72nd Academy Apache along with the CMK interior & exterior set, and the Eduards detail set. The cockpit is finished and temporarily set for now. The front and rear instrument panels along with the side panels are from the Eduards set, which with a little trimming fit excellently onto the CMK parts. All other items in the cockpit are from the CMK set. I still have to add the sensors for the IHADSS into the cockpit, but this will be done closer to the installation of the canopy. I also installed the port and starboard front avionics bay (avionics will be installed later in the build) and the starboard aft avionics bay which has the radio equip and in-flight recorder. Only wiring was added to the aft bay, all other items are from the CMK kit. Please let me know if you have any questions or corrections. Thanks again and I hope you like it. Bulldog 09
First off thank you Dragan_mig31 for the compliment, it's always good to receive encouragement and or help on a build from fellow modelers. Now for a quick update on the progress of my Apache. It has been slow going this week but here it is. - I added the rest of the storage / avionics bays to the port side. Picture 1 - Tail rotor shaft housing in the tail boom. Picture 3 - Two fuel caps on the starboard side (the two gray circles). Picture 2 - Access doors, two port and two starboard. Pictures 1 & 2 - A vent and hinge plate on the dog house starboard side. Picture 2 - A vent above the APU unit on the port upper aft deck door. Picture 4 & 5 - Added the vents for the air particle separator and surge valve exhaust to the top of the starboard upper aft deck door.(The two tear drop shaped vents) Picture 5 Well that’s it for now. I should be able to button up the fuselage now and start on the engines next. Please let me know if you have any questions or corrections. Next up detailing the rest of the rotor assemble. Please let me know if you have any questions or corrections. Dave Fassett Edited June 8, 2009 by Bulldog

Bulldog 09
First off thank you so much to everyone for the great comments, it sure does mean a lot. i am intrested in the fact what decals will u use? Hello dragan_mig31 I will be building 88-0202 Devil's Dance. Most of the stencils will come from the Hi-Decals sheet, some from the HobbyBoss kit, and the rest custome made. Now for a short update. Below are pictures of the finished "disco ball" and the PNVS. The "disco ball" is from the Eduards set. The first coat of paint on it was a gold metallic, second a clear red, then I wrapped it in a strip of Mylar film. I wish I had a better camera to show you the effect the Mylar gives it. The PNVS was painted with Model Masters Acryl, stencils came from the Hi-Decal Apache sheet, and the lens was a piece of reflective sequins. That’s it for now. Please let me know if you have any questions or corrections. Dave Fassett Edited June 8, 2009 by Bulldog

Bulldog 09
Hey y'all I'm back. I tell you work has had me busier than a rabbit on Viagra in a field full of bunnies. But I have finally slowed down enough to sit at the bench and make a little progress. So here is what I have been able to accomplish in the last 2 days. -Finished the TADS sensor. Sorry the photos are not the best. I used a piece of mirrored sequins for the left sensor eye. For the right side I used a piece a green reflective and mirrored sequins for the interior sensor eyes (hard to see in these photos sorry about that) and a piece of Mylar for the sensor cover. The two access panels on the back came from the Eduards set. Full stencils were also applied. Pictures 1-4 -Finished the two GE T700-GE-701C engines. These are the engines from the CMK kit and are excellent. The faces are PE pieces as are the rear heat shields which are not pictured here. The seams on the exhaust tube are meant to be there as they represent the weld seam. Both have full stencils and placards too. I still have to finish the wiring on the two, but that will happen when the nacelle's are installed and the engines in place. Pictures 5-8 I hope to have the nacelle's and engines mounted and in place by the end of the weekend. Well that's it for now. Please let me know if you have any questions or corrections. Bulldog 09
Hello all, First off thank you all for the kind words and encouragement on this build. Well I haven't gotten as far as I would have like too on this project since the last update, oh well. Here is what I have accomplished since then. -Port side engine nacelle and engine have been installed. -Wires and hoses added where needed. -Transmission oil cooler built and installed. It’s kind of hard to see in these photos. I will take pictures when I build the Starboard side. I still need to add the PE parts on the top side of the "Black Hole" engine exhaust duct along with the braces on top and bottom. More photos to follow in the next couple of day, hopefully. Well that’s it for now. Please let me know if you have any questions or corrections. Dave Fassett Edited June 8, 2009 by Bulldog

Bulldog 09
Quick update on my slow going Apache build . Below are pictures of the starboard engine nacelle with the transmission oil cooler built and installed. Next up are the AVR-2A's all four of them. Right now the only one I have attached are the tail unit's, the forward units will be left off until after the decals have been applied. Each unit consists of 4 pieces (not counting the bases) and a Mylar lens. The only thing missing from them right now are the rubber "Bump bar" that splits the long lens. This will be added at the end of the build. Well that’s it for now, please let me know if you have any questions or corrections and I'll talk to y'all later. Now its off to add the wiring and plumbing to the starboard engine . Dave Fassett Edited June 8, 2009 by Bulldog

Bulldog 09
Hey Y'all, I started this build back at the beginning of the Helicopter group build which I believe was July 1st. Well long story short it turned into a serious AMS build and work keep me from spending the time on it that I wanted. So needless to say that I did not have it done in time for the finish of the group build. Well here is an update on the progress of the build to date. -Both engines finished and all plumbing and wiring is complete. -Both wings complete. Non-skid areas replicated using Mr. Surfacer 500. I was unable to photograph clearly the position and navigation lights (which are not mounted yet) because of there size. Eduards PE was used on the wing tips and for all of the “slime lightsâ€. All that is lacking now is the pitot tubes and static dischargers on each wing. -Both landing gear struts were rebuilt using PE parts and a lot of scratch building. Below you will see the before and after pictures. On the left is the kit part and to the right the finished product. -The ballistic window that separates the pilot from gunner was added. -The canopy framing above the pilot was fixed. The Original canopy had the clear section going under the dog house when it should stop just before it. To fix this I filled in the original frame lines with superglue, sanded, and rescribed new lines. -The canopy was cut open and the pilots and gunner/co-pilots doors rebuilt. All the lacks on the doors are the hinges, vents, latch handles, and first aid kit for the pilot’s door. As for the canopy, well that’s the next thing to tackle after the gun. Well that’s it for now; the next update will cover the M230 gun system. Please let me know if you have any questions or corrections. Thanks again everyone, Dave Fassett Edited June 8, 2009 by Bulldog
Bulldog 09
Hey Y'all, Here is the M230E1 chain gun for my 1/72 AH-64A. The first three shots are of the kit supplied gun. Here is what has been done so far to it. -Muzzle break removed and replaced with PE piece. -Stainless steel barrel and PE heat shield added where barrel connects to the main gun body. -Gun body, motors, servos, and drive links added using sheet styrene and stainless tubing. -The wire strike framing around the gun was a mix of 28 gauge wire and stretched sprue. The main part of the frame was wire which I soldered together. The small bracing pieces where made of the stretched sprue. The wire cutter on the top was cut from a piece of .005 brass. That is it for now. I will post more pictures of the gun after I finish the wiring and other various pieces that sill need to be attached. Please let me know if you have any questions or corrections. ChernayaAkula
The gun looks amazing! :(
Bulldog 09
Thanks for the compliment Moritz. The gun has been the most rewarding part of this build for me so far. I counted it up and I have a total of 41 parts in the gun alone and it took a whopping 34 hours to finish. In fact this update has the finished gun along with the main canopy and the rear bay doors. So lets start this update off with the completed gun. Next up the Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting System (IHDSS) which was added to the pilot and gunner/co-pilot stations. Now for the main canopy. To this I added grab handles, gunner/co-pilot rearview mirror, wiper gear box, fuse panel, vent piping / vents, and lock block with RBF tag on fuse panel. Last but not least, the aft avionics bay door (on the right), aft storage bay door (on the left), and the RBF tags on the pilot and gunner/co-pilots main panels. The RBF are attached to the canopy jettison levers. Well that's it for now. Please let me know if you have any questions or corrections. Thanks, Dave Fassett Edited June 8, 2009 by Bulldog
