Mak
Hi I would be grateful if someone could assist me with few top and bottom view photos of one of the ailerons of the A-10 warthog. I need to have close-ups of their actuators at the ends and the two hinges at the middle where it is joined to the trailing edges of the wing. I have started two 1/32 scale Trumpeter kits and want to build them as accurately as possible. I have the “The Modern Hog Guide†by Jake Melampy, It is a great source of information and photos but it doesn't have a top or bottom close-up shots of the ailerons. FAR148
MAK , Are you talking about these two hinges? You may want to look here too, http://www.arcair.com/AWA1/101-200/walk120_A-10/walk120.htm Steven L Edited August 27, 2008 by FAR148
jmel
I have the “The Modern Hog Guide†by Jake Melampy, It is a great source of information and photos but it doesn't have a top or bottom close-up shots of the ailerons. The aileron actuators are shown in detail on page 36, both with and without the weapons pylon in place. Page 33 has two top views of the ailerons and their attaching points. The decelerons and their attachment points can also be found on page 36, along with many other views of the ailerons/decelerons. I'm not being defensive, just trying to figure out exactly what part of the aileron you need photos of. Jake
Mak
Thank you Steven and Jake. MAK ,Are you talking about these two hinges? Yes Stephen, these are what I am looking for but more importantly close-ups of these hinges on the top side of the wing, also the details at the ailerons ends. Here are a couple of scans with the areas I am interested in, highlighted in red. I appreciate few TOP-view close-up shots of these areas. I am more concerned about getting the top details right, the model will mostly be seen from the top anyway. The aileron actuators are shown in detail on page 36, both with and without the weapons pylon in place. Page 33 has two top views of the ailerons and their attaching points. Jake, The “The Modern Hog Guide†is an excellent reference book on the A-10 but the two photos shown on page 33 are for each wing so basically they are just mirror images of each other. They are taken at an angle probably as viewed from the cockpit. The hinge attachments and the actuators are visible but still not clear enough to try to scratch build them. On page 36, the top left photo is a bottom view of the aileron and could be of little use. The right three photos are pictures of the inside of the aileron in the open position and of no use at all. The bottom two photos are also bottom views of the aileron actuators attached to stations 1/11 and could be of some use. The only TOP view is a photo taken from a steep angle and shows the aileron detached from the wing and striped from its attachments and therefore of no use.
