Ohio ANG 60th Anniversary

Recommended Posts

This beauty has been making the airshow rounds all summer, so I'd imagine a lot of people have already seen it. It was conceived and designed by SMSgt. Ty Boling, a former 130 loadmaster with the unit, and a member of ARC. Take a bow, Ty! Beautiful airplane!

Thanks, guys. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. It really is a very pretty airplane, and a great way to honor the history of the Ohio ANG's squadrons. We really need some decals for this aircraft!

Thanks guys!! I am glad you liked the photos.

As for a model, I get the shakes thinking about bending decals around those nacelles, even with today's high quality sheets. But, I want one, I want one!

I hear you about the nacelle decals, but I think trying to add any detail to the inside of the airplane would be worse. I've been inside a 130 before at airshows, but this was the first time I'd ever really looked around inside one. There are things stuffed everywhere inside these airplanes. I'd love to see someone brave enough to super detail a 1/48 model!!

WHere did you do your air-air?? I love the background in some of those.

Thanks, Craig. We started out from Mansfield, Ohio, where the 179AW is based. We departed northbound and flew over Lake Erie and Put-In-Bay (South Bass Island), then flew back in a low-level MTR before making a few passes over the base. We were up a little less than two hours.
