nr1forme
Hi! I´ve started to build the Tamiya F15C in 1 /48. In the instructions it´s called out to paint several panels inside the cockpit and engine bays a blue metallic (X-13 is recommended). Can his be correct? I tought the panels inside were light gray or zinc cromate green/yellow. Anyone who can shed some light on this? Thanks! Emil
scotthldr
This is quite correct, I think it's just the later built C/D and E's that this applies to. The problem is you won't find many photos of open panels on an Eagle Try these for some reference http://www.33fw.acc.af.mil/shared/media/ph...F-0000P-003.jpg http://www.craigcentral.com/models/f-15c/d...asp#Const081505 http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/lofive...php?t74648.html

Felinoid
Sort-Of-In-TheFor-What-It's-Worth Category... While I was doing a 1/48 Monogram F-106 a ways back, there was a pic in the Detail & Scale book published on that subject that stated the blue/green color in the avionics bays was possibly inspired by the Russian Interior Blue color found on most of their contemporary a/c. Maybe it was carried over to the F-15?
Slartibartfast
Before and during WWII, Curtiss used a similar color for their initial assembly anti-corrosion coating. Some speculate that's where aotaki came from.
fasteagle12
The company I work for made the flight control and inlet ramp actuators for the F-15. I looked at one of the final assembly drawings at the paint notes. It calls to .."paint per P.S.13375 with two coats of MMS425 primer". P.S. 13375 is a McAir (now Boeing) paint specification. I have the paint you mentioned in your posting and its dead on for the paint used on the real plane when compared to a paint test panel I have. Maybe you can find something online using the MMS425 reference. Good luck.
