It might be a couple of days before I get some pics on here, but I know how much you all have missed my magic.....MUUUAAHAHAHAHA! Just messing. Again everyone thanks for all the support! CorsairMan
ok - I am very interested in this. I have this model in my stash. I can't wait to see how you do.
brewer
I, too, have this one in the stash for a pending commission build. I'll be watching
JMan
Well I opened it last night and what I found was that most of the model has recessed panel lines, BUT, there are a few spots that have raised panel lines. For instance, the horizontal stablelizers have raised lines, as do the wing and belly pylons. I am making this one a pretty clean plane so no drop tanks but will make all sidewinders and sparrows. I finished rescribing the raised panels, now need to sand and clean out the new recessed lines. Will see how those come out, and if need be I will dig them a little deeper. The main fuselage and wings are all recessed, but I might make them just a little deeper for a nice wash. Oh and by the way if you want to make a nice cockpit I would recommend getting an aftermarket pit, the model pit stinks, and it uses decals for instruments, but this is OOB so no aftermarkets! Pics to come soon!
CorsairMan
Good to know. I was going to keep the cockpit closed up. I was thinking of strict OOB and concentrating on the paint but I like those aftermarket burner cans...
JMan
Yeah the "Turkey feathers" that come with the kit are pretty crappy. Think what I am going to do is make this one static, and scratch some exhaust and intake covers! Tamiya did a pretty crappy job on them, I think I will have the canopy closed to, but I'll see how she goes together!
ThunderGrunt
Jman here are my 2 tamiyas Good kit except when you get around the intakes, sucks and the cockpit i closed up mine also, only add was decals and Aires burner cans. shockwave
Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one Jman. I started mine a couple of weeks ago to do an Arctic Aggressor for the "What If" GB, but all I've done is polish the canopy and dip it in Future. ThunderGrunt
Mike Yeah those are them you can tell alot on the sides how they are all uneven and not very closr to one another. Jman good luck with your build ill be watching as i have another tami in the stash,
JMan
Hey everyone sorry for the delay. I bought a nice camera yesterday and I am going to take some shots of the outer fuselage today and gets some pics up as soon as I can so that this can actually be a WIP! JMan
OK, everyone here are some pics! This is just the box art, but its typical Tamiya art! The next shot is of the upper fuselage. Dont really care for the way the cockpit areas match up, hate the top and bottom meeting, prefer the side to side. I rescribed the entire upper fuselage and the front part of the fuselage so that when I get rid of the seem I wont sand away the panel lines and such! Here is the topside! More to come! JMan
Ok everyone now that I have my new camera I should really put it to good use. So here are some shots of the pretty crappy pit that comes with the kit. First is the tub with the aft avionics bay. Since this kit will have canopy closed I am not going to waste paint of the avionics bay. Here is the bang seat. Well not exactly the best in the world, but it comes in 4 pieces and goes together quite well. Heres the before construction. Here is the seat completed! This is the seat and tub together! DUH, you guys already knew that! hehe! I am sorry but this kit isnt going to be 100% OOB, it was bad enough that the instruments are decals, but there were no harnesses and the pilots sucks A S S! So with some Tamiya tape I added some harnesses and buckles, and added a wash with flat black enamel. Havent given it the dull coat yet but wanted you all to see what I have done. Here you go! Well until the next update, happy modelling and as always comments and tips are welcome and wanted!
JMan
Ok everyone I have the cockpit completely done minues the dull coat but thought I would make sure that the wash and everything is completely dry, dont want to wash too much of it away with the dull coat, but here she is. Hope you all like! Here is the wash applied before reducing, Here is the wash after removing most to just leave a hint of dirt, I know those airdales in the Air Force keep their birds pretty clean, sorry if its too dirty, Thanks for looking, and as always Happy Modelling and comments are welcome and wanted!
