DC-10 (Airfix kit, TwoSix decal)

Recommended Posts

Here is my DC-10, which I build OOB, but had to use after-market decals to cover partially molded cockpit windows.

(Sorry for quality of pictures)

Hi Leo,

Thanks for posting your build and for the great information about the decal sets, Leo! :)

During my time in Atlanta, it was an awe inspiring event to see the beautiful British Caledonian DC-10! If my memory serves, they made stops there three or four times a week in the late afternoon, and I would ALWAYS make it my business to check what runways were active so I could be in a good location for an up-close spotter's view when the beast arrived!! :salute:

The ambition to build a model of it never went away, and here 23 years later it's finally taking it's place in the stack! :(

Beautiful work, and thanks again for all your help!

Take care,

Frank

Leo,

Thanks for sharing this fantastic looking DC-10!

Certainly brings back memories... British Caledonian DC-10 is probably what got me interested in airliners... when I was around 6 or 7 years old my father used to travel a lot between Hong Kong and London and every time he would fly on the B CAL DC-10. I got to watch his flights take-off and land and he always brought back models of B CAL DC-10 and other stuff from the flights... some of which I still have today! Also had a giant poster of a B CAL DC-10 on my bedroom wall at one time...

Having seen your build... I have already put a B CAL DC-10 on my "to do" list...

Dennis

Thank you guys for your kind words!

Which color did you use for belly part, because I really like how this metal finish turned out?

It's Tamiya's TS-30 "Silver leaf" or TS-17 "Polished Aluminum" spray can. (Sorry, but I cannot remember which one was used for this model).
