gunpowder
Yes its HUGE. This is the transport wings 1/72 747 which will have the Revell 1/72 Shuttle on its back. So far the fuselage halves have been sanded and the center Keel part has been added for rigidity. Lots to do still. It is being built in the flight mode to be mounted on a tripod. Heres the fuselage with a few clamps. Its photographed with the Airfix 1/72 nimrod for a size comparison. And the wingspans. loftycomfort
Holy beep that's huge! I didn't even know there's a 1/72 Jumbo jet kit around. I imagine when finished, this thing will take up the entire corner of a room. Can't wait to see it finished. Cheers, Terry
AnthonyWan
Dang I never realized the Nimrod was so small I thought it'd be at least close in wingspan to the 747..
richter111
This could be the shuttle build of the century!

Ro-Gar Hobbies
Very cool, I will be watching closely as I have the same kits. Have you figured out how you plan on doing the engine cover? Which scheme are you planning on, the old silver or the white one? Good luck, Robert
slick95
Awesome start on this neat project! I've seen both the shuttle and transport 747 before, and I've always known they are large. What's really shocking though, is how much smaller the Nimrod is than I thought it was. Nice work! SLICK

GCA333
......Well... I am jealous. Now all I need is the pound to go the 1.30USD again. I will watch with intent!
gunpowder
OK more progress. Fuselage is joined and filled , it just needs a little more filling/sanding. Tailplane assembled and fitted and wings made ready to join. The shuttle itself should be complete by this evening too.
gunpowder
Well the hardest part is nearly done. I had to scratchbuild the shuttle cradle. It took hours only for me to find that it sat a little too high , so it was pulled apart and redone.. Its not 100% acuurate but it is very strong. It still needs some work and another strut adding. Thought i would take a break and take some photos.
Ro-Gar Hobbies
Looks like its coming along nicely! Did you add any structure inside the fuselage? I was planning on adding some wood bulk head for strength to mine. Regards, Robert
JMan
WOW, this is really starting to take shape! Cant wait to see how this comes together. I really want to see how the landing gear come together. This might be a purchase I will make around tax time. Always loved the 747! Now does the kit come with the shuttle or was this something you are adding? Thanks for the update. Cant wait for the next one!
