Matt Roberts
http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/modules.php?...le&sid=5504 Maybe it wasn't canceled afterall Matt
pigsty
Is it just my imagination, or does it come pre-pre-shaded? Edited July 10, 2009 by pigsty
Dave Williams
That's some kind of test shot. I suspect that they just washed the detail so that it's easy to see. It won't come like that.
Matt Roberts
Oh come on the recessed detail is washed like that just to hack those off who hate 'Chinese' molding techniques! Over on Aeroscale someone is mentioning that the flaps are not dropped. Would it even be possible to realisticly mold a wing that thin and have something for the flaps to attach to? I still wonder what the Academy one will look like, considering that all three of the Tigers 'announced' this year have also been said to be cancelled at one time or another (Academy, AFV and Kinetic) this is a good sign for those of us who want some new Tigers in our collections. A question. Looking at the part break down with the two colors, I can see why the louvered area aft of the wing is separate but what is with the back end? I didn't think that changed and the diagonal breakdown just seems a bit strange. Matt Edited July 10, 2009 by Matt Roberts
shion
- separate rudders. - Lerx - separate flaps that seems nice. When?????

dylan
but what is with the back end? I didn't think that changed and the diagonal breakdown just seems a bit strange.Matt thats the way the rear end detaches on the real F-
Kevan Vogler
Nice if they do some Early F-5s too. I bought the Classic Airframes 1/48 F-5A when it came out and was rather underwhelmed by it.
JackMan
*sniff* Why no love for 1/72 F-5E/F ? :P Italeri's raised panelled ones are outdated & MiniHobby (ex-Trumpeter) ones are just cheap knock-offs of Italeri. http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/modules.php?...le&sid=5504 The different plastic of the rear end & some of the other parts makes me wonder if they used the Monogram/Italeri for those parts (albeit rescribed) and new original molds for others. Is that legal? (Just curious as I've often contemplated doing that myself :) ) Edited July 10, 2009 by JackMan

Matt Roberts
If it is simply because of how it is in real life I am bit worried. I have fought with more than a few Trumpeter and other kits with a separate rear fuselage breakdown for unviewable engines or other reasons lost on me and I just wonder if it'll be as much of a pain to get the join clean on this one. Though it is on a flat(ish) area and not a circular or too complex of an area to get to work so it may not be too bad. The Monogram fuselage breakdown wasn't it a left, a right and a bottom piece. It's probably been 20 years since I did one (or a 72nd Italeri one for that matter) Matt

Harold
I want one ASAP, so that I can have my resin set fit that one as well. I sure would like to see how they did the 'pit and all that canopy mechanism.
Tomcat Fan
Well... I want one..
1/48 scale pilot
oooh this looks promising. i like the idea of the fuselage joining on the actual joint, I'd love to tackle a pair of engines on one
f5guy
Oh boy Oh boy Oh boy! Man, have I been waiting for a new tool 48th F-5E/F for a LONG time! Seriously, if AFV does a good job on this kit, they've sold me at least 20 of them. I'm with Jackman though.... I too would love to see a new tool 72nd F-5E/F as well, and while we're at it, how about 32nd scale? The Hasegawa kit is nice, but what a pain in the butt to rescribe the whole thing! Thanks for the link Matt ;0) Fred K.

Matt Roberts
You know every time I see that pic of the Penguins the first though in my mind is -'why the picture of the Taliban and how the 'ell did they get the Stanley Cup' I wonder is this the Kinetic mold discussed back in March? The CADD pics that were there are gone, and I wondered if the back end of the F-5F in those looked the same as this one. Also Two Bob's Bob had mentioned a new tool series of F-5E/F/N was being worked on is this it...or do we possibly have a 4th Tiger mold out there? AFV Academy Kinetic ???? The CADD pics that were there are gone, and I wondered if the back end of the F-5F in those looked the same as this one. The riveting is similar to the one in Kinetic's F-86 and F-16s so perhaps it's Kinetic that's in charge of the design and tooling ?
