Hobbyboss Yak-38

Great pics there Haneto!

What is that nozzle-like thing just forward of the forward nose gear as well as just before the end of the tail?

TIA :taunt:

They are the outlets for the puffer jets - for pitch control in the hover.

There are two more at the wingtips (but they are slatted rather than round holes) - they are for lateral control.

I think the fore-and-aft puffers can also swivel left and right to give yaw control.

Hey look, its the Russian JSF - What an ugly jet. Still gotta have one

The forger is much closer to a Kestral or first generation harrier than JSF. More of a tech demonstrator than useful warplane. The Yak 141 is closer to the JSF and actually is the basis for the rotating main engine nozzle used in the JSF.

Oh I know its nothing like the JSF. Trust me I really do. I just remember back in the day, before the Russians got themselves a regular carrier, everyone used to laugh at the Forger, and at lesser extent the YAK-141, becouse they used lift fans. They said that the things were several hundreds of pounds that once in level flight do nothing for the jet except take up space and eat away at performance. Now those same people are trying to sell everyone on the benefit of the VSTOL JSF variant with the same style lift fans. AWESOME!

Good news for my shopping list.

And where is the 1/48th TrumpyBoss Su-24 "Fencer" ?

Pics of masters just shows that the company may sell a kit one day in several years. Test shots pics are a lot more interesting as they show that the kit project is at the industrial stage where the manufacturer has to sell the kits to compensate the molds tooling cost. I wouldn't add the Yak-38 to the shopping list yet.

Great

Another one for my shopping list.

And after this Yak-38 "Forger" I suggest in 1/48th a MiG-23 and MiG-27 "Flogger" family, a Yak-28 "Brewer" and an Ilyushin Il-28 "Beagle".

And where is the 1/48th TrumpyBoss Su-24 "Fencer"?

V.P.

I can not wait for this plane to be released and would also love to see some new kits of Soviet/Chinese origin in 1/48....

HOLY SMOKES!

I almost skipped this thread because I glanced at it and thought HOBBYCRAFT Forger (remember they did a 72nd at one time)

Thanks Haneto for the pics, anything else you can share like a Tornado pic?

Matt

Rumourmonger and proud of it (though my mom still wishes I had a differant hobby!)

CG, remember our Benevolent Chinese Hobby Overlords are blessing us with a pair of quarter scale J-10 Dragons and a JF-17 Thunder sometime in the next year - unless Haneto has some new news concerning the JF-17 and the Bronco/Trumpeter tiff mentioned last month.

Wow, that looks really nice! What are the odds the cockpit will actually be as detailed as that?

Matt, I managed to get a couple of the Bronco JF-17...it is very nice. Accuracy, I cannot speak to but the kit itself is very nice

It was something about Bronco copying (stealing) the Trumpeter CADD that went into the design. Trumpy was trying to block further distribution of the Bronco kit.

All in all the height of irony.

Well, a lot of time has passed. Has there been anything new on this kit???

The only "news" i have seen regarding it was that it was together with HB F-14's on Aviationmegastore "to be released" list. That was many months ago, in the winter i believe.
