Tom
This looks nothing like the the part included in the kit of this aircraft. The pylon in the kit is for an AIM-4D Falcon. I think the one in the picture is for a Sidewinder. Correct? Thanks, Tom

However, because of a 1949 treaty, Austrian planes were not allowed to carry missiles, so don't hang anything there

caiotfjr
From 1993 they can use missiles...Regards Wolf: My disinformation, sorry To complimento wolf's info: "Since 1955, Austria's armed forces had been forbidden to operate any guided missile system, including Air-to-air missiles and surface-to-air missiles. In the post-Cold War environment, and with gun-armed aircraft a relic of a past age, the Austrian Parliament voted to amend this section of its state treaty and in January 1993 modern AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles were ordered from Sweden to arm its fighter aircraft.[1]" So, it seems that the pylon are for AIM-9 missiles
Tom
Thanks guys. Now, can someone tell me if there is a 1/48 jet kit out there that would have this pylon/rail in it? Tom
Dave Williams
My plan was to just cut off the angled bottom of the wing pylon in the kit. The Sidewinder rail can be found in any number of kits.

Dave Williams
The J35O "Austrian Special" kit doesn't have the Sidewinder rails in the box. They are in the Swedish F/J kit, but are deleted in the -O kit. Edited November 3, 2009 by Dave Williams
