SpiritZeroThree
Got started on the HH-65C a couple of days ago. Don't have the cobra company interior yet but i've made some progress on some of the major external surgery required to make an accurate US Coast Guard Dolphin. Reinforcement plates on the tail. I cut these by placing masking tape on the kit part, tracing out the panel lines for reference and then drawing the plate on the tape. I then pulled the tape off the model and cut out the part from .010" styrene sheet. Tail cut off, left side boom plates done, starting on gear fairings. The biggest pain so far, the doghouse. The exhaust area is semi-accurate for an A or B model Dolphin, but needs some major reshaping for a C model with the Turbomeca engines. CA and accelerator to the rescue. and my attempt at recreating the plumbing under the exhausts As seen here

SpiritZeroThree
Small update before i go on duty for the weekend. I finally ordered the Cobra Company interior monday, so that should hopefully be here soon. in the meantime the exterior work has continued... left side is almost done, i've finished the scab plates, avionics vent, main gear fairing, and window framing. Just need to do the APU exhaust and it'll be complete. right side, showing the scab plate, main gear fairing, and panel lines for the flight engineers winch hatch. and starting on the bottom, lots of panel line changes here.... Moving onto the bottom fuselage panel. It was basically sanded smooth and all panel lines filled. Painters tape and sharpie were used to plot the new panels lines, antennae and fuel dump line. A piece of .308 brass makes a perfect punch for the required disks. Boxing in the nose gear bay. Did i mention i had to extend it back about a half inch? The bottom plate now.. On a completely unrelated note, the instructions for the fireball tail say alot of weight is needed up front, so i hollowed out the nose and crunched a .45cal bullet. a couple more will probably get stuffed in the doghouse, along with some lead shot under the cabin floor. And in case you were wondering "Nick, how the heck do you know what the underside of an HH-65C looks like?", well being in the Coast Guard does have it's advantages. Managed to shoot this one while doing a SAR Demo at the Chicago Air and Water Show last summer.

Aaronw
Nice to see this going, I did an HH-65A from the Revell kit a couple years ago, but I've held off on doing a C because of the additional changes. I'll definately be watching this one for ideas.
