Flankerman
Just in from Moscow - a resin model of the new PAK FA from a new enterprise called Resin Magazin (Resin Shop). Box top...... What's inside - 5 poly bags stuffed full of resin parts, upper and lower fuselage halves, one clear canopy, instructions and painting guide. The upper fuselage is a one-piece resin moulding - with superb panel detail - and not an air bubble in sight. The lower fuselage is in two halves - again beautifully cast is smooth grey resin. The contents of one polybag - wings, tailplanes, fins, 'levcons' and underwing missile pods..... Another bag contains the engine compressor faces - and the exhaust parts. Flankerman
The undercarriage components - plus some grilles. The quality of the moulding really is superb. I understand that NeOmega had input to this kit....... Nose undercarriage bay, tailcone, radome, intakes and engine trunking/mainwheel bays. The last poly bag contains the cockpit tub, side panels, K-36 ejection seat and some aerials. The vacform canopy looks a little cloudy - but it's probably only mould release agent and should polish out. It's a pity that there's only one though - no room for mistakes when cutting it out..... The painting guide - for the first flight colours..... The instruction sheet...... I can't wait to get started....... I have no idea about price - or availability - yet. loftycomfort
Is it a review sample? The and details and casting look superb, is it 1/48? Terry
Berkut
I look forward to the build. The kit goes for 120 bucks on ebay, and around 60 in Russia i think. I hope the will fix that obvious spelling mistake tho...And i also hope they asked Matej's permission before using his drawings. PS: Terry, it is written 1/72 even on first picture, and some after it... ;) Edited June 24, 2010 by Berkut
AnthonyWan
Watching with interest...I almost bought one of these on Ebay this morning when I decided to check out reviews first.
MarkW
But...you already have the definitive 1/72 Pak FA...

Raymond
do a camo'd one to compliment ur scratchbuilt primer one!
Flankerman
do a camo'd one to compliment ur scratchbuilt primer one! That's my plan - the only problem is the white-outline blue 51 bort number - and the outline-only red stars. But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I've received my set of AKAN paints from a pen-pal in Moscow - the correct colours for the splinter camo. Watch this space... Ken
GaultHawk
Looks great! I wish i could get my hands on one of these for the Russian prices $120 is just insane! Ill be watching with great interest. Ryan
geedubelyer
Nice project Ken. The casting looks very crisp. It will be interesting to see the two versions side by side when it's complete.
MAX67
Ken, hello! I am glad that you got the parcel. Pay attention to the vacuum canopy. This detail is covered with a thin film. This film should be removed. Then the canopy would be perfectly transparent. With interest I will watch over the construction of this model. Regards. MAX.

Max, Lots of people over here are very excited about this kit..... The biggest number of questions they ask about it are - "Where can I get one?" What are Resin Shop's plans for distribution - when (and where) - will it be available in the west. Regards Ken PS - Paravoz shop (Loco Club) website :- http://lococlub.ru/index.php - is not working! Flankerman
I've made a start on the cockpit. You can see the NeOmega input - it really is beautifully moulded and requires only careful painting. You can just about make out in some of the published photos that the cockpit is the same pale blue-grey as the standard Flanker cockpit. The two published photos I have seen so far of the instrument panel differ - one is pale blue-grey with black MFD's, the other is all black. I have gone for the latter - but it is still all a bit speculative..... All I have added is a K-36 firing handle from the spares box, plus a square bit of a map and a couple of small decals to the MFD's. I will add the prominent (scratch built) HUD later....... geedubelyer
The cockpit tub and seat look a treat Ken Regarding your HUD, may I make a suggestion for the glass portion. Something like this might give a neat effect. If you could find something like these that are large enough to allow you to cut out the generally circular shape of the lens then the irridescence of the confetti changes colour as the angle of view changes, just like the full sized article. It's pretty cool ;) Looking forward to your next update with eager anticipation. (A scratch built one of these in 1/32nd scale would look really good next to your Su-27 :( ....... ........... :D ) Edited June 29, 2010 by geedubelyer

Aggressor Supporter
That is a good looking kit. I am sure it will build up to an impressive plane if your scratchbuilt version is any indication. Keep at it.

Qian
That's a great looking cockpit, Ken! Nice start, this is going to be another fun thread to follow!
Foxglove
I'm impressed with the quality of most of the parts. Three questions for you, Ken: 1. Is this exactly the same model as the one sold on ebay as Neomega(there's nothing about it though on the Neomega site)? 2. If the models are different, which one's better? 3. How much is this Resin Magazin kit and where can it be bought? I can't find it on the Internet. Thanks.
