A-10E 336th FS Rocketeers "what if"

Recommended Posts

What if Instead of F-15E's the 336th Fighterwing had recieved A-10B's that over the years would have been upgraded to A-10E Night Hogs. This Hog has seen its fair share of combat in the skys of Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of it's missions are flown at night with other A-10C's and F-15E's. I built this hog to look the part of a dedicated night attack aircraft. It recieved a digital paint scheme of Gunship gray, Euro 1 gray, and Green drab. It uses the FLIR pod to fly at low altitude and the SNIPER pod to guide its bombs to their targets. The weathering may be a little much for an Airforce bird, but I think the Hog looks good dirty. I used parts from the Revell F-15E to fill in the cockpit along with Edward PTE and Aires seats. The Hobby Boss kit comes with a closed canopy that I cut so that it could be displayed open. I also used a donor Acadmey kit to fill in some of the gaps of the hobbyboss kit. I actually am very happy with the way it came out and can see myself improving on my skills. It looks a lot better than my last model. Thanks for looking and please leave good and bad comments.

Thanks

Mark

I love "wHat if" Hogs.

Camo is a fantastic idea-well done.

Only critique I can find is the weapons look very packed in and a little crooked. Looks like the outer Mavericks are bumping into what's on the next station.

thanks a lot for the feed back, Yeah they are close but not touching. I do need to work on hanging the weapons. I didn't even notice the the sidewinders were at an angle until i looked at the photo. I guess it goes along with me not being able to hang a picture straight on the wall.

Camo looks fantastic for such a small plane. I believe this is a 1/72nd as I think I saw it in your wip thread.

Is it just me or do the tail planes look like they are tilting forward? Maybe that's an actual part of the design and I just never noticed them before?

A stunning model.
