White Wolf
Hi all, here's my 1/72 F-15E done up in the markings of the protagonist of the Xbox360 video game Ace Combat 6, Garuda 1 a.k.a. Talisman. I used Tamiya AS-10 Ocean Grey as the overall color instead of the usual Gunship Grey. Compared to my F-14, I tried to go easy on the weathering this time. The kit came with no weapons or equipment except for a centerline drop tank so I added 2 spare AIM-9Ms and a LANTIRN set from the spares box. The nose gear door is depicted in the kit as open instead of closed as I understand is usually the case with F-15Es on the ground. Part of the landing gear prevented me from gluing the door closed, so I just left it as it is. As stated above, the kit has no weapons, not even the navigation and targeting pods. No CFT pylons either. Still, I had a lot of fun building this kit. The parts breakdown is very simple and assembly is quite easy. There are some things like small gaps, but they're easily taken care of. The decal sheet is very detailed and 75% of the decals are stencils, although I think they're a little too big and conspicuous for 1/72 so I only used a few of them to break up the monotony of the grey. There's also some bad orange peeling on the fins and that's entirely my fault, I'll probably fix it later. Overall though, I like how it looks.
