Backfire
Interesting photo of a Ukrainian MiG-29 supporting government "anti-terrorist" operations in Donbass (eastern Ukraine). Fully armed MiG-29 in the "Ukrainian Falcons" demonstration team paint scheme. Guess they wanted everyone to know which country it belonged to?
Flankerman
I think they are used on operations - and have just never had a re-paint. I photographed this one at Vasilkov AB in 2010..... Ken
Berkut
There are plenty of videos online of them making passes.

If a Mig-29 for one is screaming across the sky that low heads will be looking up. Nobody on the vehicle nor in the background are looking up. Nice propaganda photo. Berkut
It looked odd to me too in the start. But as said, there are video's of the event and one can clearly see the troop carrier in the background.
Bonehammer73
Looks legit enough to me. Propaganda, yeah. Photoshopped, no. Edited April 18, 2014 by Bonehammer73
Hawk10
Got news for you - It most likely happened as pictured - Reason the people in the pic (except for the guy facing aft on the track) are not looking at the aircraft is that they didn't know it was coming. (But I guarantee they were looking at it after it passed - you can't believe how loud a low twin engine jet is when it passes over you @200/300 feet AGL and cruising at about 300 knots!) And as far the flight team markings go, first and foremost, that thing is a combat aircraft and it's apparent that the Ukrainians have figured out that the Russians probably have ten times as many M-29s as they do, so they were pressed into service. (and I doubt seriously that the pilots of that unit complained at all!). Edited April 18, 2014 by Hawk10
graves_09
Jets approaching can be very quiet under some circumstances. Ever seen the Blue Angels do a "sneak pass"? Same principle could apply here.
Les / Creative Edge Photo
The Mig-29 should have been blurred in the photo due to rate of passage. Quite possible. If the photographer used a higher ISO to give him the ability to select a much higher shutter speed, say 1/1000th or more the Mig would be pretty sharp. But odds are if the photographer was intending on photographing the men on the vehicle, he'd probably not really think about a very high shutter speed and likely use one much slower, thus the Mig would have been blurred to some extent by its motion. So yes, combined with my earlier post this pic looks a real photoshop one and again is just a nice propaganda photo.

Same principle could apply here. The jet would likely be in burner and as such a Mig-29 does not smoke as much in burner. The pic show the Mig's smokey engine exhausts. I guess i should stop underestimating peoples laziness to google instead of writing paragraphs of frankly, BS. Even when i repeated several times that there are several videos out there...
