dean spirkoff
trying to show a open cowling on a shot up engine, Being repaired. and a prop being replaced. have made brass and silver engine coils from old phone and cable that will look burnt up. trying a candle. and slowly pulling the wires across the top of the flame. not to low just a little to make the wires looks scorched. then I I even put holes in the prop. my question is dose anyone have pictures of a cowling being removed or being opened and thanks in advance for any help Edited June 9, 2014 by dean spirkoff
DonSS3
That will depend, almost entirely on the engine/airframe combination. What type of aircraft are you doing?
majortomski
Don, the sub line in his title said B-25J. Dean you're just going to have to find a shot of a -25 with the cowling off. It may be different than you think. I work on a DC-3 and the cowling comes off in three large panels, there's nothing left on the engine when the cowling is off. I do know those props use a simple sling to grab two blades and a hoist to lift it off the splined shaft. Good luck on the project. Google image search has this one: http://www.trainweb.org/northtexfreemo/22209B25EngineTB.jpg Oh WOW! I ran this plane back in 1977! http://www.aafgroup.org/galleries/ex-swt-airshow/index.html Edited June 9, 2014 by majortomski
DonSS3
Oops, didn't see the sub line. For the B-25, I may have some useful photos here of the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum's B-25J "Briefing Time." http://s20.photobucket.com/user/DDonSS3/library/B-25J%20Walkaround
