11bee
Check out the Apache that was included in pictures from the recent airshow at Dyess AFB in TX. Probably one of the most weathered helo's I've seen. Looks like it was painted dk gray with a flew splashes of helo drab added. http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=284374 Still waiting for an Apache upgrade set with all the new sensors and the upward directing exhaust. Chief Snake
The first thing that came to me was it looks like an attempt at a digi-cam paint job. Done by hand, piece by piece. Chris M
hawkwrench
I think an Apache or Blackhawk would look cool in an all digital camo. Tim
HeavyArty
Something like these test patterns... USAF HH-60G USMC AH-1W Aussie OH-58C Indian Attack Helo Light (HAL) This still has to be the best "analog" scheme. Edited May 13, 2015 by HeavyArty
hawkwrench
Wow, looking at that hawk hurts my eyes-Lol! Tim
11bee
Wow, looking at that hawk hurts my eyes-Lol! Tim Thank goodness they didn't introduce that scheme fleet wide, it's pretty much impossible to replicate on a model. However, that Apache sure looks appealing. I love the crazy weathering, which is offset by the nearly pristine CARC on the exhaust diffuser and TADS housing. Cool stuff...
Shawn M
they are awful fun to model all grubby'd up like that Revell 1/
salvador001
Great apache Shawn, weathering the helo drab is such a pain in the a$$ Rod.
Bravosierra001
hat's clean compared to this one that I took pics at while at work one day. This is one I love to show the "weathering police". LOL! Great pics. Thanks for sharing. Looks like it was a great airshow. Brandon
11bee
Shawn - great model, you nailed the weathering. BS001 - THAT is a fantastic looking Apache. Thanks for posting those pics. I've never seen any Army helo look that beaten up. I wonder if that is all just weathered CARC Green or the crew chief just went to the local Walmart for the closest matching touch-up spray paint (while drunk)? GMK
BS001 - do you happen to have any pics of the left side of that aircraft? Thanks, Greg
ccrqw
HeavyArty , Take a closer look at the aircraft you labeled HH-60G. The USAF is not known for spending too much time or money on experimental camo for the H-60 fleet, Gunship gray is good enough. You know the old saying, nothing is too good for the troops, and nothing is what they will get. The aircraft pictured is actually a MH-60K. Look at the nose section with more fidelity. hawkwrench
Wow CC, your right, after looking at closer, that is a Kilo model. Hummm!, pretty cool 16Oth SOAR scheme. I'd like to know the history behind that scheme. Tim

From the angle in the pic, it looks pretty effective but have no idea how effective it would be when airborne, at night, etc. I'd love to know more about this as well. jwest21
On the Apaches, I saw a couple at an airshow about 2 years ago and they looked similar to the first example. Whatever paint they use must weather really fast.
