CaptainErik
Hello again friends, I've found a new project to make my boring life a bit more complicated , this is Revells' 1/144 F-5E Tiger II. I will take my time to slowly build it because I want to try some new things: some cutting, some scratchbuilding, making decals ... This kit offers the updated version with extended LERX and Sharknose. Should be an easy model to build with few parts But I want to do something extra, I've opened port avionics bay and starboard weapon bay ... Cut the ailerons and slats and slightly lowered them ... I'm using Verlinden Lock On N°26 F-5E/F Tiger II as reference for this project. Wish me luck because I'm gonna need it :D
Sebastijan
looks like you're gonna have a great little build!

JakubJakepilot
Hi buddy, very nice !! Some questions here - is it new/old/reboxed kit ? Didn´t know Revell did one in that scale. ..... do I hear "Bahraini Tiger" ? ..... Tiger_lover_Jakub
CaptainErik
Ok guys, I KNOW I'm nuts but this is only the easy part, cutting plastic is very simple. You have to scrape plastic from the inside of the fuselage until it's really thin and then you can easily cut through it without much damage. The real problem will come next when I have to put stuff inside the holes Jakub, the Revell kit is from 1994, I first thought it was a Dragon rebox but it appears not : http://www.xs4all.nl/~erix7/models/bandits.html Thanks everyone
JakubJakepilot
Thanks CaptainErik, time for search and hunt one Tiger !! Regards Jakub
CaptainErik
Underside of fuselage : I want the speedbrakes lowered so I've cut the holes for them and made them from sheet plastic Here you see the fuselage and speedbrake from the 1/48 Revell/Monogram kit for comparison : More later
CaptainErik
Here I'm adding detail to the inner side of the speedbrakes, Tamiya extra thin cement is used to melt and glue the thin stretched sprue (in red for better contrast) And done :

CaptainErik
Erik, one thing....the wingtip missile rails were molded in backwards for some reason. I don't know why. I have the same kit. Cut em off, flip em around, and reglue. Voi-la! Hey Habu, you are right, didn't see that yet, you have very good eyes Thanks buddy, appreciated
Sebastijan
you're nuts! great work on the airbrakes! Is it just me or there's some sort of strange 1/144 super-detailing fever currently present on the ARC?!?
Matthias
Impressive work on the speedbrakes! Having the idea of doing the structure was sick. Actually doing it is beyond sickness! I´m impressed.
Gerfaut
Whow I'll ask the explications in dutch when he has finished :D Is it just me or there's some sort of strange 1/144 super-detailing fever currently present on the ARC?!? Thats only an idea :P They are just making some kind of concour for the most detailed plane in 1/144 scale
madmike
I do not think my poor eyes would focus on parts so small for an ENTIRE project... More power to you, looking forward to seeing more pics  :D MikeJ
CaptainErik
I just want to add that this was NOT difficult, but you need to have sick idea's to keep yourself busy  (If it was not easy I would never tried it) Skii, it's not painted red, it's just stretched sprue from red (Monogram) plastic. Anyway, I'm contemplating about my next sick idea now :D Thanks for all the encouragement :D
Nev
wow,I never thought nanotechnology would find its way into modelling  Erik, you are crazy :D
CaptainErik
Speedbrake wells have to be filled up again with plastic sheet : then some plumbing and valves added : I've come to the limitations of 1/144, ;) it's just a 'representation' of what should be there, it's just too small to be accurate, but it was fun anyway ;)
The_Animal
Superdetail a 1/144 scale?????????? I'm having a bad enough time, just trying to get weathering on my F-14A, but you're trying to superdetail an F-5E?????? You, buddy, are asking for EYESTRAIN. Have fun, Erik. :o It's lookin' good.
