Frank Steffens
Well, here she is...with plenty of mistakes, an inaccurate loadout, and decals that had to be removed, redrawn and reapplied...but I still like it and had fun, which is all that matters... The Migrant
Well, I'm sure it's a nice model but the pictures are all bitmapped. Oh... Great job on the painting especially- is that a spurious scheme? Very impressive, particularly in 72nd as Phantom mentioned.
Darren Roberts
NOICE!
Aggressor Supporter
Good to see the completed model Frank. You did a very good job on the camo scheme!
Trojan Thunder
You're a very brave man to attempt that scheme! But you have pulled it off, Great result Frank. :o :P Edited July 3, 2006 by Aussie747
GreyGhost
Beautiful work on a tough scheme Frank !!! Gregg
David Walker
I'm impressed by anyone who attempts that scheme, and in 1/72 it's simply remarkable. Fantastic job. Great job on the painting especially- is that a spurious scheme? Nope, it's a real plane from VMFA-314. There's at least one other in-progress thread of someone else who's doing this F/A-18 as well and here's a photo Dave Roof posted a few days ago of them masking the real thing: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v50/Roof...RNET2004006.jpg Edited July 4, 2006 by David Walker
Frank Steffens
Thanks all for the kind comments. I really appreciate it! I learned a lot from this model, and I'm planning on doing -200 from VMFA-314 in the eventual future, so hopefully that one will be better than this one.
Citrico
just incredible. Congratulations! Andres
Frank Steffens
Unfortunate update: As I'm sitting here, a young relative threw a shoe into my "office" where my models are kept, knocking the DigiBug off the table, and just about destroying it. I think its salvagable, but right now I'm so hopping mad, I'm trying not to get myself arrested. Second Update: The damage is fixable. All underwing ordnance, 1 main landing gear, all of the main gear doors and the centerline fuel tank snapped off cleanly with no real damage to the paint. Shouldn't take too much to fix. The reason for the shoe incident: I wouldn't let my nephew "play" with my models, so he decided to take them out with a shoe...nice kid huh? His mother's response? "Wah, he broke your toys...get over it." Edited July 11, 2006 by Frank Steffens
EnZoNaMi
Oh, wow, man that's unfortunate but it still looks awesome. I've never seen such a model w/that color scheme, awesome.
hatchet
It looks (looked? B) ) very good Frank. I hope you'll be able to salvage it. And please don't kill your relative too much :D Edited July 11, 2006 by hatchet
Fishwelding
That's awesome. (The airplane, not the part about the Theater-level Ballistic Shoe). Even if the model is not salvageable, know that you're in the Pantheon of Great Modelers. That kind of work isn't often matched.
Frank Steffens
Damage is all fixed now...looks like it never happened. Edited August 30, 2006 by Frank Steffens
