  1. That is a plane from the UN Light Aircraft Squadron. Personnel from Argentine, Yugoslavia, Norway and Sweden operated DHC Otter's and Beaver's in Congo.
  2. Hi Niki Yes there is a white background on them. I can see that your stash need an Indian Canberra bomber and a DH Beaver as well.
  3. I asked for help with the ex Italian F-86E bought by UN and operated by Philippine personnel in the Congo crises. I thought that I would thak you for the help by showing what finally came out of this. Airfix 1/72 Sabre 4 with home made UN titles. With this one finished it is time to finish the two F-86F that has been slumbering for a while now.
  4. I got this from another forum: 9542 North American Canadair Sabre 4 CL-13 442 Diverted to RAF before RCAF serial marked, became XB639. First flight on 27 January 1953. Used by No. 67 Squadron in Germany. Back to USAF on 20 April 1956, marked with RCAF serial. To Italian Air Force, coded "2-05". Used in Congo in 1963 in support of UN operations, operated by 9th Tactical Fighter Squadron of the Philippine AF. Preserved, on display at university in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. Badly deteriorated and vandalized by 2008. 383 XB576 Canadair Sabre F4 Ex RCAF 19483, d/d 04/05/1953
  5. So did the Indian Canberras and Ethiopian Sabres in Congo. All used them in addition of the national insignias. Tunnan and the ex. Italian Sabres I am searchin for didn't retain the national insignias only the UN markings. But the mystery with the markings on the Sabres wings remains.
  6. I am lookin for information of the Italian F-86E that was used by the Philippine UN contingent in Congo in the 1960th. The only picture I've seen is this:http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iran---Air/North-American-F-86F/2239985/L/&sid=ce2a9b974dcb6f55fdd6a6c3a8cc00f9 As I understand it five planes from 4a Aerobrigata was used and one of them was 19542. Looking at the picture it seems that the Italian roundels were removed and the tactical numbers on the nose were replaced with the ONU text. It also look like some markings have been removed/overpainted on the fin. But the wings is a myst
  7. I have been trying to find a better picture of the marking on the fin on the Draken 35011. It was placed there during the attempts to sell the plane to Switzerland. Björn B
  8. Tamiya Volvo 850 built out of the box. I had already built a 37 Ford panel van and a VW Transporter in airline livery's so I thought that I should build this one like that to. Narrow strips of masking tape was cut and applied to the windows. Tamiya flat base with a small amount of clear to bind it was sprayed on the widows giving a frosty appearance. Since the car looked to clean I sprayed Tamiya Buff on the lower parts of the body but I needed snow so I glued micro balloons on the flat surfaces A few more pictures here: http://baecklund.eu/scalemodels/gig/aircars.html
  9. Last evening we had a monthly meeting in Stockholm. Lars took some pictures so my Ju 52 can be seen at this page at IPMS Stockholm Here is one of them in smaller format: It was almost out of the box. I converted the central BMW engine to a P&W with a three blade prop. and scratch built a new cowling for it. The registrations are painted and the smaller texts are decals. I normally dont build in this scale but it was a wonderful kit. Some pictures during construction can be found here Björn B
  10. Last year I was searching for information of the Austrian camera nose on their J29's as I would like to build one of the planes with it. Austria used the F-model that had an afterburner but the 1/72 Heller kit is of an earlier version so it will be wrong. The matchbox kit is of the right type but the kit isn't very good so I have to combine the two. I used the engine panel from the Matchbox kit and the rest will be the Heller kit. The jet exhaust is from an old pen, it had the right diameter and can be glued with plastic glue. I think that I got the shape of the new ca
  11. Only four? I lost count of all started kits but they are more then 100 now. I build as long as it is fun then it stops. Sometimes I find inspiration to restart on them. The civilian planes that I know I started on are: Airfix: DC-9-20 and a DC-9-50 conversions, DC10, Ju52/1m and two Caravelle's. Revell: A320, B737-800, B737-600 (conversion), BAe146-100, Junkers F13 and G24. Italeri: two Ju52's. Broplan: Boeing B80. Welsh models: B737-500 and B720. Minicraft: Two DC-8-63 (one started as a DC-8-55) Daco: three B737-500 Williams Bros: a B247 and a Northrop Gamma. Dekno: Northrop
  12. Thank you. When I now look at the pictures I can see that there are two different planes with the stripes. The third one has a white number 1 on the fuselage. Would you know the marking on the fourth plane as well? Regards Björn
  13. Hello I am going to build some PZL P.11c and would like to mark them as the ones that visited Stockholm in 1936 when Bromma Airport was opened. I know of two of the four planes. One was the personal plane of General Rayski with the red and white stripe and another was 8.14, white 1 of 112 Fighter Squadron and that aircraft is depicted on Techmod decal sheet . Would anyone know the other two planes that were here in Stockholm? Björn B
  14. I have the two AMT sets of the various USS Enterprise but never got around to finish them. One reason is that they being snap kits and that mean that they fit isn't the best. But the biggest problem is the task of painting them. Yes they are small but a single colour don't look good. It need something more. Painting isn't my stronggest point in modelling so.... While trying to find the motivation to restart on the kits i had fun building the USS Eggerprise. A little more can be found here: http://baecklund.eu/scalemodels/gig/eggerprise.html Björn B
  15. Finished. A Swedish HKP 4E. As usual more pictures at Assembly Björn B
