Lookin great Pete. You got allot done. Thanks for getting this GB organised and sorting it, keeping us all motivated. I know I got more done than I thought I would. Fantastic
-
Looking great Pete. Lots of good old fashioned scratch building.
-
This is looking really great Pete. The SM aft heat shield looks like it should, better than that old kit version. I love PE, but also hate PE. When you say CA glue, is that just super glue? That's what I use, and I feel there is somethin better. What brand do you use? Keep up the great work. I gotta upload pics to my thread this weekend. On some progress with Astronauts.

This looks great Pete, fantastic work. The bag trick is neat, and the foil work is great. Can you explain how you make your bases. They look cool. I've had to put my LEM on hold, while I fix up some details of my Astronauts for next months Sydney show.

1/48 Saturn V Apollo 11 - Flying model
ApolloMan replied to as205's topic in 50th Anniversary 1st Lunar Landing GB
Great work guys, that was a beautiful launch ๐ -
My diorama is completed. Apollo 11 recovery OLD 66 Shadow bird 64 CM Columbia Enjoy

Thanks guys, I've been away allot and have only managed to see few pics of all your builds, via the terrible WiFi I have onboard. But hey any WiFi at sea is a luxury. I will go back in and check them all out. Pete, I'm as young as Neil, when he walked on the moon, heh. But yes, when I look around at my work, old fart ๐. I'll post complete pics once I lock the frame to perspex.
-
Ok. Week off work and I'm done, I just have to remake the black frame. Choppers are complete now, with yagi antenna, other antenna, cameras, weathering, markings. The Astronauts have there garments on, to protect from Moon germs, along with inflated life preserves. Divers are wearing tanks, raft has flippers in with a tank and bag. Couple of camera guys hanging out of helo 64. Float bags and details on float colar. I'll need a new plaque, this one is from another model. Maybe "Apollo 11 Splashdown" 66 wearing Apollo 8 and 10 capsules, 11 is added after landing on USS Hornet

Apollo 11 50th Anniversary - Kit (re)Releases
ApolloMan replied to habu2's topic in Real Space Modeling
Habu2, you are correct. But I think your a bit early on the 50th Anniversary date ๐. There has been no real move in Apollo space era models. Dragon has some great products some yrs ago. The re released 1/48 LEM was a let down. Gandam๐คฎ and SW are getting to much attention, but maybe soon we will see some nice Apollo models๐ค -
Mate, you have done a great job. Don't worry, we have all been there. Knowing these craft so well and making a silly mistake happens. Your work up till now has been outstanding. I'm sure this project will continue, once you gather yourself. Just think Apollo 12's 50th could be a new goal๐
-
That looks great, I'm sure there is a few more things lego could have done better. Maybe some of the radars and antennas. Even the Astros could be better. Seems a lil rushed. Even though they had 50 yrs and 3rd attempt. Still awesome
