Aircrafts modeling in general, any subject related to civil and military airplanes with a special focus on helicopters.

I also spend a lot of time on my Specialized Enduro mountainbike and I love flying kites !

BTW, I am not drinking red wines and I hate eating frog's legs and snails :-)
1. Hi Guys, Very interesting post on an unusual subject. I really love the Canadian (NATO) version of the Hawk, with elongated fuselage and bright colours. Before posting images of my own work with the building of the Airfix kit please find below screen shots of the beast in action out of Portland Intl. (this is a FS2004 aircraft by IRIS Simulation -now freeware- with "photoreal textures" that have been released some days ago by the "Virtual CAF"): Some modeling frustration could turned into virtual fun! :D Note: I know the front gear is a bit crude but there is nothing
2. Hi Folks, (stored in 2002 -for how long?- at Eurocopter French factory in south of France because of the embargo. Fate unknown) This is well faded paint; I have no clue of the original one... This is a sulfurous topic. 20 to 25 years ago, Iraq was the "good guy" and together with half of the world France delivered a lot of weapons to Saddam. But it was then classified and with the invasion of Kuwait in 1990, this regime suddenly became dangerous to deal with... What I mean is that you won't find many pictures oof the aircraft, especially on the Internet. AFAIK there is only one comprehe
3. Floyd, I think I have all the documentation I need from the Internet. It took me a few hours and a couple of days but I have managed to gather 250 pictures and technical drawings for a total of 54 Mo... :) I already have printed and carefully read your latest article. Funny enough I "fell in love" with your helicopter because of what I call "virtual modeling" (Flight Simulator 2004). Here are a few screenshots I have made... FYI -if interested- you could get the original model HERE from this Swedish (?) guy (still a Beta version with a few gauges not working) Pascal
4. Hi Floyd, I received the parcel from Meteor Products yesterday. Despite being overpriced at $25 (the full kit itself is much cheapper!) for what you get in the box -I blame Meteor not the master who has no control over the retail price- I higlhy recommend your parts to anyone who likes this helo and wants an accurate representation. The shape and casting are really nice indeed, the instruction sheet is very informative. My only regret is that I would have loved to find the "disco light" molded in clear resin to replace the ugly part from the kit... This looks very promising for the build c
5. Hi Floyd, Than you very much for the usefull comment! Pascal
6. I have recently posted a few hints about the kit's accuracy HERE... Hope this would help but building a private/EMS chopper is definitely the right thing to do with the Trumpeter model (forget about the HH-65). Pascal
7. Floyd, I take the opportunity to have you on this board to ask another question... I have noticed from the pictures the Kevlar (?) side panels for both crew are mountend on hinges for easy installation while on the ground, am I right? Any idea at what angle do they open? (just an estimation, this is not AMS) Pascal
8. Hey Floyd, I am glad you did respond yourself to my call! I really appreciated reading the built-up but your images help a lot. Thank you also to Markii! Pascal Tip: a nice source for current and past images: The Kiowa Pilots Forum
9. Alex, Building a Dauphin out of both the Trumpeter and Matchbox kit is a very complex question! I have been briefed recently by a mechanic working on various versions of the SA365.There are numerous versions and he pointed me out a long list of modifications to do if you want to built an accurate model. To sum it up: very depressive! You need to carefully check your documentation to see precisely what should be done according to your model. About the Turmpeter model, except for the armed version the content of the various boxes is the same. Their model is based on the Chinese licensed bui
10. Hi, I am looking for a working link for Floyd S. Werner Jr's 1/35 scale OH-58 Kiowa Warrior he build a couple of years ago. The images on Large Scale Models where he posted a comprehensive article are not working anymore. I would also accept the images you may have saved on your HD (I knew I should have done it when it was time...). Any help welcome! Cheers, Pascal
11. Hello All, - the built kit was on display at IPMS Telford and looked really great with this German special paint scheme. - FYI the design of the kit was done by the same person (working free lance) who made the fabulous B737-300/400/500 serie for DACO in 1/144th scale among other latest releases. The molding is done in Korea. - there are some disappointments though : not only the current French and German versions are lacking the various flare launchers and ECM antennae but the French AdA decal sheet is totally wrong. The registration is a mix of a Transall NG (the version with the refuelin
12. Quintin, Use the " SEARCH" function. Enter " paint strip " in the search engine for all forums and you will find the answer. It took me 30 secondes to complete :) Pascal
13. Richard, I proceeded the same as you. Never built 1/144 airliners before (only bigger scales) and this peculiar point stopped me as well <_< I carefully looked at what others did (real kits and magazines pics of built models). I came to the conclusion that in such a small scale, decals for the passengers windows (I still believe 1/144 cockpit transparencies are better than decals) are the only realistic option. You must fill the recessed windows with whatever you want (I used this method from Steve Bamford and it worked fine) and sand. I am very satisfy with the result. Pascal
