  1. Thanks again Jared. I don't know why it didn't let me know that you responded, but I'm going to the printers with everything tomorrow. Can't wait to see how they are! Even the helmet detailing, which took 3 hours each helmet to do with resizing and scaling, came out very well, which I was quite pleased to see. I'll keep you guys posted and pictures will be done of this bird when she's finished. Thanks again for all your hard work!
  2. Thanks Jared! I'll gladly be able to post pictures as the project gets worked on in my AOL Photo album. I'll have to add that link in my signature. I've just completed Maverick's Helmet Details for decals instead of what I was using originally, which was toothpicks - and am working on Goose's Helmet details right now. I'll download the package. I have the original 1/48 scale sheet, is there any changes to it? Thanks!
  3. Looks like you really did your homework there Daniel, Thanks alot buddy! <_< John Thuot II writer and creator of Flap's Flap at http://www.flightsim.com Current Project: Revell Monogram 1/48 F-14 Tomcat from Top Gun 2 weeks so far in the making Watch the weeks number! It will increase as they go by - Wow - who would think of that, huh?
  4. Trevor - I must say that the one with the Tail Hook and the jet coming in for a landing is terriffic :D ! Unfortunatly, I do not have the know how and craftsmanship probably to do a decent display base such as that. I even messed up on the weathering tonight realizing that the original plastic was starting to come through from the plastic of the body, so guess what, yup - gotta repaint the body again after I mask off the after burners since I built them up real nice and the intake color on the top half. I have to say yours came out really good looking though. I'm still working on the decal
  5. Trevor, How did you get the balancing so perfect on that last jet? What type of materials did you use to get it done right? I'm asking because I'm fooling around with possibly making a display stand for my current project. Thanks for the advice in advance! 6. Thank you Jared! That is really appreciated what you have done. I will add some of yours to my own. If anyone wants, I'll show previews in this forum, I'm continuing the work on Helmet Details, and should be getting everything printed next week. I'm a fanatic when it comes to detailing, so I'll let everyone know and show a preview for anyone who might want my helmet details for Maverick and Goose. (Sorry those are the only ones I'm doing though......) John Thuot II writer and creator of Flap's Flap at http://www.flightsim.com Current project: 1/48 Top Gun Replica F-14 Tomcat
  7. Thank you Daniel! I have saved the picture for my reference. You're a life saver! John Thuot II writer and creator of Flap's Flap at http://www.flightsim.com Current Project: Revell Monogram 1/48 F-14 Tomcat from Top Gun
  8. Thanks Tomcatter! Appreciate it! I'll check them out for sure!!! John Thuot II writer and creator of Flap's Flap at http://www.flightsim.com Current Project: Revell Monogram 1/48 F-14 Tomcat from Top Gun
  9. I'm using the ones for the names that I have found on the forum. I am using the ones that Jared Bishop did on the jet modelling forum. Otherwise, I'm going to be doing my own Helmet Decals for Mav's and Goose's Helmet, and instrument panel decals. The gauges just aren't right with that kit.The only question I have for you, which one of the 6 digit numbers belong on the bottom of Maverick's Jet? I don't want to get that one wrong when I bring the decals to the printers to be printed. Otherwise, the other Lo-Vis markings are going to be from Eagle Strike Productions, and the kit is from Revell
  10. Hey all, Happy Holidays everyone! Here's a link to my online album, with pictures from my 1/48 F-14 from Top Gun. Hope you enjoy it! Comments welcome as always! http://pictures.aol.com/galleries/ragtopjohnny01 John Thuot II writer and creator of Flap's Flap at http://www.flightsim.com
  11. Thanks Jared, appreciate it! I'm glad you did the canopy nams. I was looking at mine and they were scaled more for a 1/72 model. How do you figure out scale size etc? I'm basically only doing this one with custom schemes for now, my next model, decided will be a F-22 Raptor 1/48 scale from Revell, so I'll be doing that stock basically except maybe for the weapons. My other question for any other modellers out there is, does anyone know of any good after market sources for the drop tanks to add to my F-14.? I started weathering the engines yesterday and it's coming out fabulous! Also if you co
  12. Thanks Bill, Jay. That solved my problem. At least now I know, so it won't drive me crazy any more....isn't it funny how things that are supposed to be fun can do that??? :D John writer and creator of Flap's Flap at http://www.flightsim.com
  13. I hear you there, and of course, that's fine if that is how you think of it. I find that details for windows for Airliners and so forfth are really good at that level. Great work on the Decals especially for the tail insignia. Mind if I use them on my Top Gun jet when they're finished? (Top Gun jet for Maverick and Goose that is) John writer and creator of Flap's Flap at http://www.flightsim.com
  14. Hey everyone. I hope someone can help me out here. I am working on a Top Gun replica F-14A Tomcat with the 1/48 scale Revell/Monogram as the base of the project. I came accross an odd situation here though. While looking at the part trees before I know what colors need to be sprayed, etc, I noticed that there are parts here that are not listed on the instruction sheet at all what so ever. They are curved parts, that look as though they COULD be additional engine detail, but not sure. It's suprising to me that Revell would do such a thing because I have alot of experience with their line
  15. Thanks Guys, appreciate the advice here. I'll have to check with the Revell thing, I didn't realize that they re-released the Citation I though I was hoping for the X. That one has to be the nicest one that Cessna makes, but too bad though. I'll look into the others though. John writer and creator of Flap's Flap at http://www.flightsim.com
